Hi all,
Reading some mails on the GIMP mail list, I ran across the procedure
to install some more fonts for not only Gimp, but the system and
StarOffice to use also. Well, I installed the fonts, went to the
shell and issued the command xset fp+ <font directory> and then the
rehash command and all fonts are there! Ok, that went well, but each
time I restart the system, I have to do it all over again? Is there
a way to make it permanent and read the new fonts like it does the
ones the system installs or is that a no-no?
end of line
Tracer
Shell commands:
xset fp+ <new font directory>
xset fp rehash

Hi,
I have this in "/etc/rsyslog.conf":
if ($programname == 'named' or $syslogtag == '[named]:') \
then -/var/log/named
& stop
...
if ($msg contains 'Started Session' and $msg contains 'of user') \
then -/var/log/systemdpurged
& stop
#
# the rest in one file
#
*.*;mail.none;news.none -/var/log/messages
I get the expected entries in "/var/log/systemdpurged":
<3.6> 2014-03-01 16:30:01 Telcontar systemd 1 - - Started Session 93 of user cer.
<3.6> 2014-03-01 16:33:01 Telcontar systemd 1 - - Started Session 94 of user news.
But I'm also getting them in "/var/log/messages":
<3.6> 2014-03-01 16:30:01 Telcontar systemd 1 - - Starting Session 93 of user cer.
<3.6> 2014-03-01 16:33:01 Telcontar systemd 1 - - Starting Session 94 of user news.
And they should not be there.
So the "stop" line for those systemd entries is not acting. However, it
works for other sections, like the "named" section shown above, and others
I do not show for clarity.
Are systemd entries special?

There was a previews thread where namebench was mentioned. I thought
it was the optimizing resolv.conf thread.
Anyway this is a different issue. Id like to run it.
The ones I located in OBS were not functional here.
What could I do to try another source?
Thanks
Steven

Unlike Farrugut's order at the Battle of Mobile Bay, going full-speed ahead is not going to achieve
any useful objectives, yet the dangers of systemd are still there.
For one, systemd is making APPLICATIONS now dependant on the systemd API, which means when even the
biggest fanboys here, at Redhat, and other distributions finally are forced to admit that systemd is
a crock of shit.... we won't be able to remove it.... in other words, unlike Farragut, the
probability of eventually being blown out of the water by a systemd torpedo is 100%.
SysV init has problems, but without a doubt, it does NOT present itself as being a massive security
hole, nor present the risk of making a system unbootable.

I've asked on the minecraft forums without a response so I'm trying here in
case that it might be a SuSE configuration issue.
I do not have sound in the game.
This has been a problem for several versions nowCurently running 1.7.5.
I've also tried the last 2 snapshots.
I can play music fine and was able to play the sound files in
.mineraft/assets/objects/* via Amarok.
I have deleted the assets folder and had re-downloaded everything.
I looked in the bug list and I found a few sound related issues, but they
suggested that there was some sounds.
The log only mentions minecraft:mob.witch.idle, but there are no sounds at
all in game, but in options everything is set to 100%.
I tried to force an older version in profile editor but still no sound going
back to 1.4.2.
I see a java Playback Stream in the mixer and volume is 100% there too.
Any ideas?

Hi,
I am trying to run DenyHosts on OS 11.3. I can get it to sync and update
the hosts.deny file, but with "rcdenyhosts status" it reports as being
"unused" just after I started it with "rcdenyhosts start". I tried also
with yast, setting up as a service (daemon) and starting it. It also
stops immediately. In the denyhosts.log file there is no error info,
just what it used to set it up at start.
I've gone through the configs several times, no joy. Anyone got
DenyHosts running properly?

Hello,
I am trying to create a bootable USB thumb drive. I downloaded the
liveKDE64bit iso and followed the procedure outlined in the SDB. I did:
Created 2 primary partitions on the drive, sdb1 - 10 Gb and sdb2 - 4 Gb,
both ext4.
as root ran
dd if=/mnt/iso/openSUSE-13.1-KDE-Live-x86_64.iso of=/dev/sdb1 bs=4M
The drive boots into a grub prompt only, but no menu appears.
I reformatted sdb1 and tried again using virtually the sme command
except using bs=1M and the process was finished ran "sync". This was
suggested on another web page for suse 13.1. The result is the same,
just a grub boot prompt.
I could, at the prompt, set the root device, the kernel and the initrd
and boot, but it is cumbersome to do it every time.
Any pointers on how to get the normal boot menu (that is on the dvd)
would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance, Gustav

Very annoying problem!
Whenever I try to install a new rpm (VirtualBox updates in the majority)
I click on install using software installer...
The software installer starts, verify dependencies then always resolves
into error and package went not installed.
The only way is to download the rpm then install it by hand.
Ubuntu is flawless on this process!
Cheers,
