[opensuse] Why is dovecot using user home directory?

All this past week, I have been trying to get dovecot to work properly. For some reason, it now wants to use the users home directory, instead of ~/mail. Dovecot.conf has the line mail_location = mbox:/mail. I have also tried with mail_location = mbox:/mail:INBOX=/var/mail/%u:LAYOUT=fs. Despite this, the home directory continues to be used, with all the files and directories (including hidden) appearing in the email client. Why is this happening now? I have set up dovecot several times in the past and never had this happen. Is this someone's idea of a "feature"? [opensuse] running a program before shutdown

Hi everyone! I do have a small problem: I want to run unison before i log out of kde, so that my files are synchronized automatically. I created a .desktop file and placed it in /.kde4/shutdown/. The .desktop file is specified by the command: unison myprofile -batch I tried it, but it seems, that this doesn´t work, because nothing was synchronized after login in again. Although in the systemsettings in the category autostart, my .desktop is listed and set to logout. Any suggestions. Best Benjamin! ps.: I already tried it with a shell-scrpit, which i also placed in the shutdown folder, but this also didn´t work…

[opensuse] Backup Options?

Hi Folks, Does anyone have any suggestions for automated backups of heterogeneous desktops these days? I've been using rdiff-backup for many years for Linux clients, but now have a requirement to add Windows 7 to the mix. Years ago I used Samba's smbclient to copy shared Windows XP directories to a central Linux box under cron control, but I'm not sure that's the best way for incremental backups and it might not even work any more. [opensuse] How to stop systemd automounting umounted devices?

Hi, just noticed that systemd automatically mounts devices again allthough I've manually umounted them. Hello, I just updated my SuSE 13.1 system, bash to GNU bash, version 4.2.47(1)-release (x86_64-suse-linux-gnu) which is bash-4.2-68.8.1.x86_64.rpm But according to https://shellshocker.net/ I am still vulnerable to Exploit 7 (CVE-2014-6277) : > bash -c "f() { x() { _;}; x() { _;} <<a; }" 2>/dev/null || echo vulnerable Segmentation fault vulnerable I read "Note from the SUSE Security Team This issue is already mitigated by the function hardening patch introduced in the update for CVE-2014-7169. [opensuse] Why uuid its confusing

with all the talk against systemd which should be dumped or the distros forked to remove it I have another older problem uuid is a pain to use . the old way of /dev/* was easier to use and remember if you made a backup of this it would work on another drive whereas uuid ties you to one drive. cat /etc/fstab /dev/hda3 / ext3 acl,user_xattr 1 1 /dev/hda7 /boot ext2 acl,user_xattr 1 2 /dev/hdb1 /home reiserfs defaults 1 2 /dev/hda8 swap swap defaults 0 0 is there a way back for 11.4 and 13.1?? [opensuse] libre office and staroffice

Hello, I just had to recover very old course (2002) written with staroffice, just to notice libreoffice do not anymore convert these files. I'm a bit paranoid about backups, so I could find in my archives a staroffice binary :-). Linux one didn't run (lack of some library, may be solvable, but I didn't even tried), but windows versions run perfectly under wine :-).
