I have problems with my browsers..... There is a crash when opening some pages... Think it's a flash problem..... [opensuse] NUT not working

Hallo group, I am running openSUSE 10.3 with nut-2.2.0-20 installed. I have configured it as mentioned in /usr/share/doc/packages/nut/README.SUSE. on starting nut using "rcupsd start" i get following: # Starting NUT UPS monitor done Broadcast Message from root@pane (somewhere) at 22:27 ... [opensuse] Problem with FTP

I'm using Konqueror to ftp files up to my various servers. I've had this issue before and don't know how I fixed it. I'm trying to upload a rather large file - 120MB - to my server. It uploads to 100% then 'stalls' on Konqueror. I get a file that is myfile.ext.part. It has the same size but is not complete and is 'corrupted' when downloaded. [opensuse] Broken Java symbolic links after system update

Hello, I just did a 'zypper update' and now apparently all my links to my java stuff are broken, specifically all the java links in '/etc/alternatives/java*'... Is there a program I am supposed to run to fix the broken links when installing new java software or something? Hello, I'm using openSuSE 10.3 and I installed the following packages: proftpd-1.3.0a-7.3, proftpd-sql-mysql-1.3.0a-7.3. I then configured my /etc/proftpd/proftpd.conf file with all the sql necessary stuff. Starting with the first sql configuration, proftpd is telling me it doesn't know what it is and not letting me start it up. [opensuse] 10.3 software manager is very slow

Hello list menmbers: I started testing openSUSE 10.3. Some function of yast software manager is very slow. Eg. when the filter is set to package groups, switching between the groups takes a lot of time, several seconds. Also searching for specific packages takes a lot of time. [opensuse] X server terminates suddenly on FX5200 with nvidia driver

Hi, I've got a fresh install of opensuse 10.3. Worked well and I am stunned with the improvements compared to the previous version. However... The X server seems to terminate randomly (black screen) /var/log/messages states "kdm[2786]: X server for display :0 terminated unexpectedly" and I also find some lines beginning with "kernel: NVRM: Xid (0001:00)" I can reproduce the problem by starting Yast --> hardware --> hardware info. Yast starts probing and when I see "monitor" screen turns black. I got a FX5200 videocard with the latest nvidiadriver installed (100.14.19-4) Monitor is configured as (xorg.conf): Section "Monitor" Option "CalcAlgorithm" "XServerPool" DisplaySize 338 270 HorizSync 30-83 Identifier "Monitor[0]" ModelName "MD6155AH" Option "DPMS" VendorName "MED" VertRefresh 50-76 UseModes "Modes[0]" EndSection Xorg.0.log states: "(WW) NVIDIA(0): Option "CalcAlgorithm" is not used" I've got a nvidia-bug-report.log if needed. Is this a bug in yast or is my configuration not yet what is should be? [opensuse] Split command to burn DVD+R (file size)

Hello guys, I need to split a big tar into a couple of files so I can burn them on DVD+R media. I use Nero for this because it allows me to use UDF as the filesystem (allowing me to burn one BIG file). Considering that a DVD+R holds 4483MB (without overburn), how big should I split my big file? I want to burn AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE but I need to consider the filesystem overhead. Thus, I can't do this: split -b 4483m bigFile.tar Is there an easy way to figure out this? If it was an iso9660 I'd just create an ISO file and figure out the difference between payload (my actual data) and the filesystem overhead..but this is UDF. I just found out about mkudffs but it doesn't work like mkisofs...need to figure out that one. Thanks! [opensuse] 10.3 window manager/Panel problems

Hi, I tried again and have a 10.3 box up and running. using vmware player instead of workstation 5.5 has helped the system quite a bit. evolution 2.12 is much better than 2.8 12 hours later and after a couple of evolution hangs it is still checking my exchange email account which it would not do before. I can manually stretch things to the full screen width but it is somewhat annoying. Also, a panel that is in autohide mode does move down and jump around quite a bit which is entertaining for a minute or two. if I use the panel hide button in kde where the panel disappears off the right edge of the screen you can see 200 pixels of it hiding in plain view. I would be happy to provide any more information besides the config file and the Xorg.log that I already attached if somebody can help. Thanks -- Todd Ness
