[opensuse] Install leap-15.0 with nvidia card

Hello, I am trying to install openSUSE-Leap-15.0-DVD-x86_64.iso on a desktop with an nvidia quadro 2000 card. On the splash screen I select the monitor resolution and then choose "Install". Then kernel/installer is loaded (with progress bar indication on the bottom of the screen). When installer starts up, the screen turns to black and the monitor switches off, saying "going to sleep". Switching to VT1 (with CTRL-ALT-F1) works, but when I switch back to the installer (CTRL-ALT-F7), everyhting is dark again. Searching the net finds me many information about installing the nvidia drivers ON A RUNNING SYSTEM. But how is one supposed to install the system in the first place? In addition the user.js file provided by ghacks is limited to about:config-entries considered as security relevant. The advantage of the ghacks file is it tells you in what version of firefox which of the about:config-entries can be used. [opensuse] How to download .bin and .txt file from Firefox

There are a few firmware files I need to down load to get my wireless running. I thought in Firefox, if you clicked on a file, there was a way to select downloading. Now all I get is a dump in hexedit. Is there something to set up to restore this basic capability? Hi all. I've got the basic recipe working, e.g. :0 * ^from:.*foo@gmail.com.* { :0c: ${MAILDIR}/INBOX :0ahi | cvlc -I default -R --gain 8.0 ${HOME}/ringtones/cash_register.mp3 } (pretty much copy-pasted from examples on the web). With the latest Skype for Linux version 8.xx I still have lots of problems with sound which entered in Skype since the last working Skype 4.3 Was lurking on the web and found that there are some Linux Skype users who found ways to use their 4.3 version. Lost that info and can not find the Skype v4.3 rpm for the install. Same as the way around the version 4.3 no-no which was build in the use of skypeforlinux. [opensuse] ftps protocol not supported in Leap 42.2 and 42.3 KDE3

Hello: I use KDE3 in all of my openSUSE systems as desktop manager. I found that ftps protocol is not working in openSUSE Leap 42.2 and 42.3 KDE3. When I write "ftps://ftp.xxx.xxx:21" either into krusader or konqueror address bar I get this error message: Protocol not supported ftps ftps works in openSUSE 13.2 KDE3 and "ftps://ftp.xxx.xxx:21" in the address bar brings up the login window. Is there a way to make ftps work in Leap 42.2 and 42.3? (I also checked KDE4 krusader (2.4.0-beta3, KDE 4.14.33) and it doesn't support ftps protocol either in Leap 42.2 or 13.2.) [opensuse] kernel versions

I have read discussions concerning the wisdom of Opensuse not running current kernels. But I recently purchased an Alienware 13 3 that is near EOL, so it is not real bleeding edge technology. Neither the wireless nor Ethernet are supported, and now I find the the graphics chipset is not supported either. I was able to use a USB wireless transmitter, but I cannot get around the display hardware. message about wireless in dmesg is: ath10k/QCA6174/hw3.0/firmware-5.bin failed with error -2 Qualcomm Atheros Killer E2500 Gigabit Ethernet Controller is not configurable, except with a patch into the /sys directory found on the internet. Message about the graphics chipset from the Nouveau list is: "GP106 is supported, you must be using an older kernel (since yours says "unknown chipset")". How dangerous is it to download on of the kernels from the Opensuse search site. Kernel.org says the latest stable release is 4.17.12. Under search/42.3/community packages, there are a few offerings shown at this revision level. How bad is it to install one of these kernels?
