[opensuse] Booting with an encrypted home

As it acts as my home server, this is incovenient: /etc/crypttab: cr_home /dev/disk/by-id/ata-KINGSTON... none none /etc/fstab: /dev/mapper/cr_home /home xfs lazytime,exec,nofail 1 2 On another machine (a laptop wit 15.0) if I don't type the password fast enough it goes into emergency mode, prompting me to repair or pressing control-D. It doesn't even wait 3 minutes: /etc/crypttab: cr_sda8 /dev/sda8 /etc/fstab: LABEL=Home /home xfs lazytime 0 1 Now, I would like to change things. I would prefer the first machine to boot anyway after, say, 5 minutes. And the same for the laptop. Another option would be to have the laptop wait forever. The rationale for the first one, the server, is that I might ssh as root or as plain user with home defined to somewhere different than /home, and enter the encryption password remotely. The rationale for the second one is that I boot it and I go look somewhere else; when I look again it is at the ^D prompt and I have to ctrl-alt-supr to retry. It is inconvenient, it waits too little time. I don't know how to control these timings decissions. - -- Cheers Carlos E. R. [opensuse] Kudos to the 15.0 devs and those who made kde3 possible (both then and now)

For those that don't check, You have a full kde3 build available for Leap 15.0. It works brilliantly. Special thanks to all that made it possible. I can't tell you how rewarding it is to have a full featured desktop that just works. No distractions, no worry about something not working correctly, no worry about having to collect data and file bug-reports, just working. Kudos for continuing to make that option available. For machines with limited RAM, there is no better desktop that provides as much, fully up and running with konqueror, kwrite and konsole in a total of 215M (that includes leap/everything) http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE3/openSUSE_Leap_15.0 I have my plasma install, as well as fluxbox and i3, but by far, kde3 is the favorite. -- David C. [opensuse] Category YUM?

I have two computers running opensuse 42.3. One of them was failing to refresh its repositories. When I looked in yast2 I noticed that the repositories had a category of YUM, whereas on the other computer the categories were YaST. I don't think this difference caused the failure to update, but when I delete and re-add repositories, sometimes they are YaST and sometimes YUM. Does it make any difference? Why is it different on one computer? [opensuse] firewall errors?

I'm making some progress on my tvheadend problems. I've managed to retrieve a log file from the FireTV and it has log lines like: 21:38:05.039 T:18446744072835107104 ERROR: AddOnLog: Tvheadend HTSP Client: pvr.hts - unable to connect to 192.168.1.83:9982 Now if I look in the journal on my linux box using YaST, I see apparently relevant entries but it won't let me select them!!!!!! :( STUPID YAST. So off to find a way to look at the journal that WILL let me select text ... OK, I found journalctl, so here's an example: Aug 07 13:23:21 acer-suse kernel: SFW2-INext-DROP-DEFLT IN=eth0 OUT= MAC=d8:cb:8a:9c:3a:a5:60:6d:3c:05:af:5b:08:00 SRC=192.168.1.82 DST=192.168.1.83 LEN=60 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=64 ID=7538 DF PROTO=TCP SPT=57413 DPT=9982 WINDOW=65535 RES=0x00 SYN URGP=0 OPT (020405B40402080A089E4F7C0000000001030306) Now 192.168.1.82 is my FireTV, 192.168.1.83 is this linux box where tvheadend is running and port 9982 is the HTSP port of the tvheadend server. So it looks like my box is helpfully :( dropping these packets. The question is why? As far as I know I'm not running a firewall, so I go to YaST to check and see a Firewall Configuration box with a popup saying it is trying to connect to a firewalld and then an error (and again YaST won't let me select any of that text - what is that all about?). So as they say, WTF? What is going on here. Good afternoon, on one installed leap15 server I've running drbd version 8.4 (by /proc/drbd) and on another cloned is right version 9.0. [opensuse] the software updates app says "18 updates", but zypper patch says 1 optional ?

On Leap15 with Plasma5, the software updates app/applet/whatever says "18 updates", but "zypper lp" says 1 optional. [opensuse] Everybody please watch this cat video!

Just curious. When I play the following video on Twitter: https://twitter.com/sarperduman/status/1026158449091141632 I get the audio at twice the speed / pitch, meaning the audio is obviously not in sync with his hands and finishes after half a minute, leaving the rest of the video silent. The same thing happens with certain other videos from this same guy, but not all, and I've seen the same effect once or twice elsewhere on other accounts. I wonder if it's a more general problem with the original encoding, or a problem codec on Linux or openSUSE? This happens under Firefox on Leap 42.3. Opera says it cannot play the video, and Konqueror just shows the first static frame with no option to play. [opensuse] no more mp4 (html5) reading on leap 42.3 browsers

I'm not sure if it's related with others threads (about chromium), but since a very short time I'm unable to read mp4 on my leap 43.2 browsers (browsers only) for example this video I just uploaded to my gallery, built with kdenlive and my usual scripts http://dodin.org/piwigo/picture.php?/142551-003_flames/category/7520 I can't read it neither with Firefox nor Chromium I can read Youtube with Firefox, at least this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ObBKKv13F2E&list=RDObBKKv13F2E&start_radio=1 but the same do not read on Chromium. [opensuse] yast, mythweb and php version

I'm trying to bring up mythweb. I've discovered that it's a separate package but am somewhat confused. Most of mythtv is v0.28 from packman and there is a mythweb package that is also 0.28, but there are also 0.27 & 0.26 versions and I'm not clear why. That's minor though, the main problem is that when I try to install mythweb I see an error: nothing provides apache2-mod_php5 But the only PHP module for apache seems to be v7: apache2-mod_php7 - PHP7 module for the Apache 2.x webserver and that is installed. Now according to https://code.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/12588 that problem was encountered three years ago and was fixed in mythweb two years ago apparently in v0.27. So 0.28 should be OK.
