[opensuse] fyi - sftp url parsing (with included port) broken in 11.3 kde3 - fish OK - howto work around?

I've run across a strange issue with sftp on 11.3 kde3 after recent updates. Attempting to connect to my server on my LAN with sftp, I get the following error: Unexpected sftp error: 2 - konqueror Error encountered while talking to ssh I don't know what recent update may have caused this (I suspect openssl), but it isn't suse specific. It also broke on Arch. The strange thing with both is 'fish' works fine -- even on a non-standard port. (apparently fish respects ~/.ssh/config) Another data point I have is that sftp still works fine with 11.0. So I guess whatever update 11.3 got that 11.0 didn't is causing the issue. I've checked syslog and nothing gets logged with the failure. It looks like a command line parsing issue. In konqueror, if I enter the url in the following form (as I've done for at least 4 years): sftp://user@host:port/dir1/dir2 sftp gives the error. However in 11.3 if I use the command line and do: sftp -Pport user@host:/dir1/dir2 I connect just fine. So it looks like the string kde3 now sends to ssh isn't working anymore. Ahah!! I just checked another box from 11.3 that uses the default port 22 as the ssh port and I can connect in konqueror in 11.3 via sftp just fine! Bingo. So I guess I need to know where I can try and fix this?? It seems that whatever changed in ssh no longer lets kde3 specify sftp locations as: sftp://user@host:port/dir1/dir2 Any thoughts on how I can work around this problem?? cc: Tim Pearson -- David C. Guys, I tried to send a message to the list earlier and got the following returned: This Message was undeliverable due to the following reason: Each of the following recipients was rejected by a remote mail server. To me it looks like the suse list blocked the mail from my isp thinking my isp was sending from a dynamic IP (doubtful - this ISP covers most of the south/south-east US). [opensuse] Dell monitor configuration

I have a new openSUSE 11.2 system with this display: DELL P170S 17" TFT The graphics in the system (cannot change it...) is a ATI chipset with only a VGA connector. X says this on the system: (II) RADEON(0): Found color CRT connected to primary DAC (II) RADEON(0): Output: VGA-0, Detected Monitor Type: 1 (II) RADEON(0): Total number of valid Screen mode(s) added: 0 (II) RADEON(0): Output: DVI-0, Detected Monitor Type: 0 (II) RADEON(0): Output VGA-0 connected (II) RADEON(0): Output DVI-0 disconnected (II) RADEON(0): Using fuzzy aspect match for initial modes (II) RADEON(0): Output VGA-0 using initial mode 1024x768 In fact, the display can operate at 1280x1024. But as autodetection is not functioning, it is operating in 1024x768. Does anyone just happen to have the mode lines and all for this monitor? No it is not necessary. The X server looks for the fonts in the parent folder and automatically update the configurations adding new folders an fonts. It is what I did and it worked perfectly::all the new fonts became available after restarting the X server. If I do not have (want) an xorg.conf file, but I want to add fonts to the system, what is the preferred location? They are ttf fonts. So I guess I could add them to /usr/share/fonts/truetype. But I really do not like adding things to directories I see as being managed by the system. It seems that X does not look, by default (i.e., without an xorg.conf file), in all folders in /usr/share/fonts. [opensuse] Science repo: Build against 11.3:Update?

Hi, sorry if this is not the right place to ask, but there does not seem to be a list for the science repository on obs. Currently, coot does not build on oS 11.3 because of a GtkGLExt bug. The bug has already been fixed, but one would have to build against 11.3:Update to use the fix. Would it be a problem to change the config accordingly? [opensuse] problem writing/blanking a DVD

I want to write new data to a DVD+RW. The drive is capable of writing to DVD+RW as far as I know e.g. <http://www.burn4free.com/toshiba-samsung-storage-technology-corporation/tss…> I'm a bit worried by "Device seems to be: Generic mmc2 DVD-R/DVD-RW" but I don't fully understand what that means; I'm not a CD/DVD expert.
