[opensuse] Tiny /boot Partition

OSE 11.3 (Fresh Install) When I first installed this about six weeks back, I wanted to create a boot partition sufficiently large but could not make the installer budge beyond the tiny default of 68MB. Frustrated, I went ahead and now it has returned to bite me. I not only cannot have multiple kernel versions but there is not even enought space to upgrade the kernel. Proposed solution: I added a second virtual disk (this is running under ESXi 4.1) and will copy the old boot partition contents to the new one, update the /boot/grub/menu.lst, modify the fstab and remove the active partition marker from the old /dev/sda1 boot partition and make the new /dev/sdb1 active. Will this work? Another alternative I can also do is to create another OSE guest and copy the non OS partitions over. Obviously, I prefer the first option unless I overlooked something. There used to be a configuration utility called 'alternatives' which you could run to choose a java instance from among multiple installs. Although this seems to have disappeared when I upgraded, all the links and config are still present in my /etc/alternatives directory. Your machine is most likely quite different from mine, so adjust accordingly. I have the java-1_6_0-sun-plugin package installed in addition to the base jdk and jre. This provides the browser plugin. The link to the browser plugin should go in the /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/ directory. First thing to do is hunt down the _actual_ location of your plugin, and substitute in the below what your actual path is if different from mine (only using mine as example). cd to /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/ and do something like: ln -s /usr/lib64/jvm/java-1.6.0-sun-1.6.0/jre/lib/amd64/libnpjp2.so libnpjp2.so Change the above long path to wherever you located the plugin on your system. tmpfile() creates a temporary file which is automatically delete when the file descriptor is closed or the program ends. Just wondering, how this behavior is achieved ? [opensuse] Configuring a four-button trackball

I have a new Kensington "Expert Mouse" trackball -- four buttons and a scroll ring. openSuSE v11.3 detects the device, and the two upper buttons appear to be configured with actions (but I haven't yet figured out exactly what they are doing). I would like to configure the device. I have searched the net for information on how to do this, but have not foud anything helpful because, among other things, configuration is different in v11.3 from earlier versions. Nor do I know which button has what number. I see that, although oS has found the scroll ring, it claims to be configuring a button to emulate it. Whatever the buttons are doing has no noticable connection with such emulation. [opensuse] No sound in OpenRA

I have just installed OpenRA (OpenRA) and found that I have no sound in game. The game is written in Mono/winforms. There is no error message in console. Confusingly the Gnome mixer says Mono is playing sound but still no sound is hearable. [opensuse] Wicd bug on 10.0.0.0/8 networks?

I've noticed a problem with connecting with wicd to Class A private networks (10.0.0.0/8) on a couple of occasions. the command line tools (e.g. ifup-dhcp) work fine. Anyone else seen this? Or on Class B private networks. No problem with class C (192.168.X.0/24).
