[opensuse] Compile problems

Has anyone successfully compiled LibreOffice in openSUSE 11.3 with KDE 4, I'm stuck with a problem, I do the following: > ./configure --with-distro=SUSE-11.2 *This is the mos recent version, there is not 11.3 in the source > ./download > make And then it says: ... checking for Qt headers... /usr/lib64/qt3/include checking for Qt libraries... /usr/lib64/qt3/lib64 checking for moc... /usr/bin/moc checking for KDE headers... no configure: error: KDE headers not found. Please specify the root of your KDE installation by exporting KDEDIR before running "configure". make: *** [stamp/build] Error 1 I have the packages "libkde4-devel & libkdecore4-devel" installed, so why is this happening and how do I solve it, any help would be great. :D Best regards. -- Marco "AlpVonKri" Flores Computer Systems Engineer Ing. [opensuse] Initrd is missing on my reserve system

On my system I still have a reserve openSUSE 11.2. I seldom use it so I was a little surprised to find out that it would not boot yesterday. I ran the repair system which is still available on 11.2 ;) but was not able to get it running. When I looked into the setup I found that the initrd-2.6.31.5-0.1 is not available. Question how to do the repair? [opensuse] how do I get flash in firefox enabled again?

I'm trying to play with the new flash 64bit beta from Adobe, but Firefox is not picking it up. I think(!) this is due to my disabling the flash plugin some months back when it kept making firefox abend. I can't find a config that says "flash disabled". how do I get flash enabled in firefox again? [opensuse] 11.0 and newer "Advanced Format" drives

Looking to add some new drives and can't seem to find any info about whether my current 11.0 install will properly format the newer advanced format drives. Or read them if I format them with a newer version. Can't find any definate info. And, yes, I know 11.0 is EOL. However, I'm not in a hurry to replace it if I don't have to. [opensuse] wiki software

I use wikis as a kind of personal notebook to provide an index and reference to all my other information. So they're quite important to me. I originally started with kwiki and then moved to mediawiki. I recently moved to opensuse 11.2 and discovered that mediawiki was no longer provided. I'm reluctant to install and maintain from upstream because of the extra hassle. This is just a very important tool to me and I need reliable, low-maintenance tools. I found a copy of mediawiki in home:Michael_Knight/openSUSE_11.2 so I installed that and it appeared to work, until I tried to log in, when I got PHP errors. It looks like they are well-known and fixed in later versions of mediawiki. So that build should be removed from the repository, IMHO. That leaves me with the problem of what to do now. I just used webpin to see what the alternatives are and discovered that there are apparently no wiki systems supported on opensuse! Just add-ons for various systems. This seems like a major functional omission so I'm hoping somebody can tell me that I've missed something. I also know that the opensuse.org wiki is built on mediawiki, so I'm a bit surprised that there isn't a build of the version that is used. I notice that Synaptic shows that Ubuntu supports several wiki systems. I'm hoping to discover that opensuse supports at least one. [opensuse] 'localhost' instead of machine name after reboot

My PC running opensuse 11.1 locked up and I had to hard reset. Upon restart when I open a terminal window my prompt looks like: user-name@localhost:~> instead of: user-name@machine-name:~> I know some updates recently installed, so not sure if that had anything to do with it. My networking is using network-manager. I tried modifying my hosts file, which is where my computer name was set before. It had a line like: 127.0.0.2 machine-name.mydomain.com machine-name Now when I restart, this automatically gets change to: 127.0.0.2 localhost.localdomain localhost The biggest issue is that I had an openoffice document started and would like to recover it. When I try to start calc, it sees the change in the environment and want to ignore the one I want to recover. Any ideas how I can reset my machine name like it was before? Made some changes in fstab and grub, got rid of some of those extraneous files and rebooted intending to follow some more of your suggestions. Now the darn thing loads to a prompt and does not accept the root bor the user passwords. Oh well I guess it is time for a reinstall. [opensuse] Frequent hangs in 11.3 + 4.5 continue

There was some discussion in the past few weeks about frequent freezes of the mouse and keyboard. See thread "This guy _really_ likes kde 4.5". I have tried various changes of kernel, and am now back on 2.6.34.7-0.3. I have also upgraded dbus to 1.4, but the problems continue unchanged. If anyone else who experienced the same problems found a solution, I would be grateful for a pointer.
