Is that better than the Packman version? -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive." Proverbs 16:21 (New Living Translation) Team OS/2 ** Reg. I get it from the VideoLan repository directly. I am not aware what packman does to it. It seems to play everything for me. -- _____________________________________ At one time I had a Real Sig. Are you using Packman for anything? It seems if I tried to use what you're using instead I'd run into version conflicts fighting each other back & forth when the (frequently updated) deps get updated. Right now I'm unable to get mpegs created by dvbcut to play the video with VLC. I just get a black screen to go with the sound track. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive." Proverbs 16:21 (New Living Translation) Team OS/2 ** Reg. I use pacman codecs and xine so that Dolphin preview player will work. Anything that confilcts, I use the VLC repositories. fwiw, over on the forums it has been a long-standing recommendation to use Packman's vlc. My understanding is that they are compiled differently, e.g., vlc may statically compile in ffmpeg while packman may call the library externally. I have noticed that packman's tend to be newer, and of course, packman is exclusively focused on openSUSE and does a lot with multimedia, so he may be doing something openSUSE specific that's not in vlc's packaging. What is clear is that the vlc packages should not be mixed between the repositories, i.e., get them all from just one. I only use the vlc repo for libdvdcss. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
