[opensuse] Piping output from smart, makes smart fail

Hi, Since the last upgrade I did of smart to smart-0.51-11.guru.suse102@i686 (The one packaged by P. Bleser), I am unable to pipe the output from smart to grep, wc, and possibly others: smart search editor Gives long list of whatever matches editor smart search editor | wc -l Results in traceback, see below smart search editor | grep -i text Prints a few matches, then the exact same traceback I don't recall seeing the same errors in earlier version, and I'm pretty sure I have used grep to filter the matches of smart before. Any ideas/suggestions ? [opensuse] RC1 to GM, md5sum mismatch, iso is corrupt

hi I verified RC1 and RC1_GM iso md5. They all matched. [opensuse] Application Fonts in KDE

I am expereincing some difficulty setting up fonts for an application I am running. I apologise if this is long-winded, or if I use basic terminology. I have IDL, a data manipulation and visualisation package, installed under SuSE 10.2. There are some fonts that I can define within the program for windows and displays, and there are others that are taken from my login settings. This allows the programmer to control the fonts within IDL environment. The problem however is, that when I use the IDL file browser the text is very small, and not legible. I have contacted IDL tech support who responded saying that the file browser picks up its font from my settings. They suggest using an .Xdefaults file, but I do not have a .Xdefaults file in my home directory. I have tried changing the fonts through 'Configure Desktop', but that had no effect. Does anyone know where else I can change or modify fonts to get around this problem I am having. [opensuse] HP Printer PSC1315

Hi, I am trying to make my printer work wit opensuse 10.3. Seems to be detected correctly but there is no PSC 1315 (or 1310 series) in the drivers list. I checked the opensuse site and it says that it is supported. The only "similar" one is PhotoSmart P1315, but I don't think is the same (I tested it just in case and it would work). I have the hplip-hpijs 2.7.7 package. Am I missing something? Also when I try to detect the scanner with the yast utility, it stays in the "Detect USB and SCSI scanners" for ever (well, I actually get tired waiting cause I wouldn't expect to be that long). [opensuse] Suse 10.2 +Parallels +USB

Using Parallels 2.2 rel 2204, if I plug in a usb drive, I get error message in WinXP that it cannot connect to USB port. If I open Parallels as root, it then works, that is, it shows up in windows exporer and I can access the files on the drive. This must be a permissions problem but I have no idea what file to fix so that parallels can access a USB device. Any suggestions? Wierd! What editor is set? If you're using vi, try hitting ESC, x Of course, you probably want to change it if that's what's set, and I'm not sure how you do that (set -o emacs perhaps? Dear my friends.... My boss ordered me to install minbar onto his laptop. And I'm frustrated because of it. He downloaded the minbar from: http://files.djihed.com/minbar/ He uses OpenSuSE10.2.
