[opensuse] Cross-compile C++ on amd64 to i386

I can cross-compile C code on an amd64 system to get an i386 binary without problems with the command 'gcc -m32 -o frotz frotz.c'. But doing something similar with C++ code fails at the link stage: --- frotz.cpp --- #include <iostream> int main() { std::cout << "hello world" << std::endl; } ----------------- $ g++ -m32 -o frotz frotz.cpp /usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-suse-linux/4.1.2/../../../../x86_64-suse-linux/bin/ld: skipping incompatible /usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-suse-linux/4.1.2/libstdc++.so when searching for -lstdc++ /usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-suse-linux/4.1.2/../../../../x86_64-suse-linux/bin/ld: skipping incompatible /usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-suse-linux/4.1.2/libstdc++.a when searching for -lstdc++ /usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-suse-linux/4.1.2/../../../../x86_64-suse-linux/bin/ld: cannot find -lstdc++ collect2: ld returned 1 exit status I'm on openSUSE 10.2. Am I missing some package? [opensuse] Prob with khubd pushing CPU to 100%

I don't know if anyone else has run into this. Just recently, I've noticed that khubd is pushing my CPU to 100% after I unplug my webcam. it seems tied to Ekiga. If I quit Ekiga and restart things return to normal. Any suggestions here? I can restart Ekiga easy enough, but that isn't really pinpointing or solving the problem with khubd. [opensuse] kpdf scroll bar different to embedded view

Has anyone else noticed the annoying difference between kpdf as a standalone window and a when run within konqueror? The kpdf window keeps the vertical contents scroll bar fixed on the screen, attached to the left edge of the document. When the same doc is viewed within konqueror the vertical, contents scroll bar is attached to the contents window and will disappear off the screen if the contents has long names requiring a horizontal scroll bar. kdebase3-3.5.7-91.1 kdegraphics3-pdf-3.5.7-55.2 I'm sure it is a recent change as it would have really bugged me before. [opensuse] Couldn't complete LIST operation

Hi list, - this puzzles me.. - Kmail has started to pop up a dialog (warning) box uppon its first retrieval of mail (POP3) from certain accounts, saying: Couldn't complete LIST operation (Translated from danish..) - but only the first fetch. [opensuse] opensuse-10.3-RC1-KDE-live-i386.iso, cann't install

I downloaded and ran the above SuSE, but cannot install. 1 - There is an icon on the desktop "Install" and when I click on, get an error "Error-KDE su, su returned with an error" 2 - I guess you need a root password, what is it? 3 - Firefox doesn't work. Offline mode, un-check "work offline" Unckecked work off line, still doesn't work. I did something...don't ask me what...and now my moniter shuts off before the screensave kicks on....I'd really like the monitor to not shut off.. [opensuse] OOo 2.3 update

I updated to OOo2.3 using the openoffice:stable repo at opensuse.org. I use sled sp1 and now when trying to open any OOo file, i am first presented with a "filter selection" dialog with 3 choices: OO.org 1.0 chart, help content and OpenDocument chart. If i select one of those options and click "ok" it only opens what ever it is i selected (OO.org 1.0 chart, help content and OpenDocument chart). If i "cancel" that box i am presented with a "templates and documents" dialog. What happened? I can not open any OOo files. [opensuse] Mounting External Hard Disks

Hi all, I've been trying to use a external disk. I can format it, mount it, but I can't write on it, cause always openSUSE 10.2 mounts it with owner and group as root. I found that strange cause all the usb pens are writable. Why not the disk? The only answer that I found is that the pens are format with vfat. I format the disk with vfat and it mounted with my user name as owner and group as root. So ...
