[SLE] 10.1 rescue disk and linux raid1

Can anyone else verify (so I can report this as a bug or know my DVD is no good for rescue) that the rescue system in 10.1 will not work with a linux raid1 one root, i.e. md0. I have a md0 raid 1 root and a md1 /home that I cannot mount to repair with the rescue option on the 10.1 DVD (i.e. self burned 6 cd isos downloaded and made into a DVD by makeSUSEdvd script. Install worked fine, but rescue does not work for me. My 9.3 DVD does work though on the same system. Too many variables in this problem to be sure where the problem is (don't think it is between the chair and the keyboard). [SLE] Printer refuses to work - error attached

Everyone, Still trying to get my printer to work with the Suse 10.0 live CD. Here is an excerpt from the messages file. I would like to install 10.1 and use the system as a print server, but afraid to continue until I get this issue resolved. Here is the message file after trying to print a test page. Printer is attached to the parallel port on an old Gateway using the AMD K7 chip set. [SLE] copying files fails with FTP

Hi I have a problem in linux generally with copying files via FTP. If I copy files everything is okay but if I copy folders with files in them Linux(SUSE 10.1 and 10) only copies the folders without the files in them but all the folders get copied. Anyone know what's wrong? Can't remember this being a problem in the past. Maybe I borked some settings in konq and kwebget? -- Regards Kenneth Aar

[SLE] Kget opens archived text files (SuSE 9.1)

Hi, Under my KDE 3.3.x session once I chose by accident to open text files from inside tar.gz archives with kget and I can't get rid of this choice anymore! I would prefer to open those files with kate/jedit/etc., but couldn't localize the place of the respective configuration either under KDEs, nor under Karchiver settings. Any tipp for me please?! [opensuse] Would something like this be good for a futre SUSE release?

I was poking around on Digg this morning and read about this: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MigrationAssistance and thought... what a nice idea. Help people migrate their systems... either during install, or as a tool that can be launched after the install. They key being... solve that problem that new users have of migrating their old data from Windows to their shiny new SUSE install. Has anyone else read this? Has any thought about or suggested that this might be something worth considering for a future SUSE release? [SLE] Can't update beyond the basic stuff

I tried the opensuse update source suggested by another list member to get kde 3.5.3 into my 10.1 system. First, it says it can't find a required prerequisite for alsatools (I'm on x86_64). Since I only installed that because I want someday to look seriously at linux sound work, I deselected all the alsa updates. [SLE] Notes in Kontact

Hi everybody, I'm using SUSE10, 64bit, KDE. I'm finding the word format tool in notes in Kontact does not work. For example, I open a new note in Kontact, type in some words, then make these words to be bold words. Yes, they are bold when I press the "Bold" button. But after I click "OK" to finish editing, and then reopen it, those words are not in bold type and become plain text again. Is it a bug or am I missing something? Thanks!
