[opensuse] ATi and Nvidia KMPs for SL 10.1

There seems to be KMPs for ATi and Nvidia available for SLED. I tried the Nvidia ones on my SL 10.1 test installation and they complained about a lot of "kernel-requirements". Will the KMPs be available for 10.1? When? Why are they not already? Are they not working stable yet? Does Novell want publicity for SLED and are thus holding back the release for SL? Is there some agreement with the vendors that could explain KMPs being available for SLED and not SL? I hope everybody realizes that if these KMPs work as expected - especially the fglrx ones - people will go crazy over SL when they're realeased - ATi driver installation is a big issue for many, many Linux users. I try to run a cbq.init script in SuSE10.0, but get the error msg: "iproute2 not installed or not executable" The # ip route ... commands ARE working though! [SLE] Apache PHP modules

I'm running SuSE 10.0 on AMD Athlon 64 x 2 with Apache 2.0.x and PHP 5.0.4 with MySql 4.1.x Both Apache and PHP5 run fine in the sense that I can connect to localhost and get the Apache default page, and I can put a basic php page in the document root and Apache knows how to deal with it (e.g. I can run the standard <?php phpinfo(); ?> page). They were installed via YaST and updated via YOU. I haven't used anything else. I noticed I had a problem when I tried to write a script that connected to MySql. PHP reported an error saying it could not find the myql_*() functions. On investigation, I found that the apache2 error_log was full of warnings of the form: "PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library '/usr/lib64/php/extensions/xxxx' - /usr/lib64/php/extensions/xxxx: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory in Unknown on line 0" ... where 'xxxx' represents the module in question, for example, the warning for mysql read: "PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library '/usr/lib64/php/extensions/mysql' - /usr/lib64/php/extensions/mysql: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory in Unknown on line 0" In short, not one PHP extension is loading because the required file is not found. On investigation, I find that /usr/lib64/php/extensions contains shared object files (*.so). The files being reported as not found in the apache2 error_log appear to be executables that are located in /usr/lib64/php5/extensions. Does anyone know if I've diagnosed the problem correctly, and - more importantly, I guess - how I can solve it? Is any successfully using plone with Zope and installed Zope using SuSE media? I have installed Zope and it is working. I cannot find install instructions for plone if Zope has been installed by Yast through SuSE media. [SLE] suse 10.0 and KDE Accessability

I have KTTS, Festival, and Kmouth all installed. I can select text in KPDF, right click, and there is a speak text option. Selecting that, it speaks the text. Question is, how do you do this with Kword, Konqueror, etc? I need math funtion for wiki, which requires to install ocaml. I could not compile ocaml on a AMD 64. [opensuse] Bug in idedma.sh (?)

Hi, I have configured the system via YaST to enable DMA mode for my dvd-writer device on /dev/hdc. Now I have noticed (via hdparm) that DMA is not enables, I have also checked /etc/sysconfig/ide and I found this line: DEVICES_FORCE_IDE_DMA="/dev/hdc:on /dev/hdd:on" I can also say that DMA *is* indeed enabled for the DVD reader on /dev/hdd. Furthermore if I enable DMA via hdparm on /dev/hdc it works fine. I think I have found the bug: in file /lib/udev/idedma.sh, line 19 missing quotes around $1 can cause the script to fail when enabling DMA form more than one device at a time. I have fixed it and now it seems to work, I am not 100% sure as testing it would require many reboots, anyway adding the quotes won't hurt.
