[SLE] Firefox problems.

Hi, I cannot connect to all sites with Firefox. oreilly.com works but not google/yahoo and many others. When google.com is accessed, it shows "connecting to google" and then connection is lost. These problems are not shown up in Konqueror and it works really well. Are there any problems with my firefox settings? Rahul.

[SLE] 9.1 TO 10.1 QUESTIONS.

I am contemplating an upgrade from 9.1 Pro to 10.1. I plan to do this with iso disks downloaded from the net. I have two fear / question comments. The first one is pretty straitforward. What files should I back up (independent of the SuSE standard upgrade backups) to insure the transition of procmail / SMTP and MySQL. 95 % of this machines reason to be is to be a mail server and a MySQL server. All mail reading is on the machine either by direct login or by using X Windows on a separate server so there is no POP / IMAP to worry about. Just SMTP and procmail to take incoming mail from net > users mailbox. The second question is much less concrete and I am not expecting much of an answer from the list but all comments welcome. It has to do with NVIDIA drivers and the upgrade. This machine was originally 8.0 > 9.0 Pro > 9.1 Pro. For that entire time I have had this fight with the NVIDIA drivers. I have posted to the list many times with these problems and got some great feedback pretty much in the way of "yeah I have seen that too, I do not know what is going on". The problem is losing the entire X Window system. I has happend about 5 times, 3 of those where with respect to upgrading the kernel. Each time when I have fixed it, I have no clue of what I did or if anything I did has made any matter anyway. Some of the things have been reinstalling older or newer drivers from NVIDIA or running the various configuration apps that are on the system such as sax2. Somehow, about 5 months ago I got a combination of driver install / sax2 configuration to work successfully. I do not really have a clue as to what I did but the current kernel / NVIDIA driver combination is working and has worked well for the past 5 months. My question is how I can assure myself of this after the upgrade. As I said above I am more looking for comments here. I know I will be living with a new kernel as part of the upgrade. I just want to know that my GeForce4 Ti video card will work with the new NVIDIA drivers / new kernel combo. I repeat .. All comments welcome. [SLE] commercial presentation of next SUSE Linux distribution

As you may know, we have little influence about the presentation of the commercial SUSE Linux. I speak about the "boxed" set, not the Novell supported professional ones. But, who knows, may be it could be usefull to express our feeling here. The actual boxed set of the 10.1 is a pity. The disks themselves are nice looking: http://fr.opensuse.org/Téléchargement/choisir_la_bonne_version#Version_.22B… this is good. But they are just fitted in a small paper cover. The box itself is cheap, very far from the usual SUSE standard (I remember of 9.0 munificent box). There are only the starting manual printed. Visibly all have been done to get a cheap product and the street price follows this. However usual deal channels don't allow really for cheap prices. This seems to me ridiculous when the download of nearly the same product is free. I wouls like to see: * A "professional" boxed set with all the disks, _two_ DVD9 and 5CD, all two manuals (1000+pages) is the local langage, and this at the price it deserve, whatever high it is. When I see the price of manuals alone on the shelves, (much) more than $100 should not be a real problem. SUSE standards again. Much less expensive than Novell servers products (with they 5+ years support), but worth 2 years support. * A minimal cd/dvd set. 5CD, 1DVD9, all of them in an A4 hard paper enveloppe (nearly no manual) - sold through e-bay and mass dealers (Amazon?), with _NO_ Novell support, for the printing cost. This should be less than $15+shipment. That's the name of the 10.1 package for viewing djvu files, an apparent open source alternative to pdf. I run my 10.0 normally, but do have a test system I normally use for factory that is currently running OSS10.1. When I couldn't find the package for 10.0, I found and installed it for 10.1 to see if it was what I actually needed. It is, but I need it on my 10.0 system. There is a source RPM on http://djvulibre.djvuzone.org/ but I don't know anything about compiling. Copying nsdejavu.so to the plugins dirs for Firefox & SeaMonkey on 10.0 don't work (loads blank screen only). Anyone know where to find it ready to install on 10.0? On 10.1 after installation, Konq is apparently too dumb to know about it. Firefox found it right away, so I know it works. djvulibre from konsole generates not found error. I have no real idea what Firefox is doing, even though it lists DjVuLibre in about:plugins. What do I need to tell Konq to make it work there? [SLE] Cannot do graphical install

I can't do any graphical install either 10.0 or 10.1. I have have tried LG L1952 and Samsung 710n, both report an invalid frequency 43 by 46hz. [SLE] Memory vs. Swap?

Hey there guys -- I'm running into an issue on our cluster here where SuSE is using about 40% of the free memory and then switches into swap space -- which is slowing down our cluster significantly. What am I looking at here? Is it a memory usage option in the kernel? Maybe I'm just not understanding the processes at work here :) Anyone that could help out, I'd appreciate it :). Thanks! [SLE] Libzypp Issues - Where Are The Updates for Manual Downloading?

We have two HP DL360G4p servers running SuSE 10.1 that act as hosts for several Xen virtual machines. We are unable to update the physical machines using the method in Marcus's recent announcement; YOU shows that there is no update available. The machines were originally built without an Internet connection and have never been updated. We are thinking we could just download the set of updated libzypp rpm packages and install them manually, but with all of the repository movements, we are unable to find the download location. The (test) packages are no longer in the people/aj(?) directory. The wiki lists additional package repositories and installation source repositories but makes no mention of update repositories. How should we best proceed? Anyone have recommendations for good USB-powered speakers which run under SuSE 10.1? The built-in speakers on my Acer laptop don't quite cut it.
