Konqueror in 3.3, gwenview

Since my last kde 3.3 update, clicking through a weblink into an image uses (according to View - View mode) gwenview rather than the embedded viewer. Gwenview doesn't work, pictures never appear. I was happy with the embedded viewer anyway. The view menu allows you to change back to the embedded viewer for that instance, but the next image you click on opens gwenview again. Anyone know how to set the embedded viewer as default like it used to be? Anyone know why/how gwenview is broken, and why anyone thinks it ought to default to that. Hello All, I am currently installing apt on my 9.1 box at my house. I would like this box to be as stable and secure as possible. I am having trouble discerning which components I would like to have in my /etc/apt/sources.list file. So far I have base update security usr-local-bin kde mozilla samba3 funktronics packman and wine. How can I tell what other components I might want to use? Thanks, d33p th1nk3r

Kernel 2.6.8.1 (Vanilla) Won't Work With X/KDE or NVIDIA

I just compiled Kernel 2.6.8.1 (Vanilla) and fixed subfs. I can live without 'splash', but not without X/KDE or the NVIDIA driver. The NVIDIA Driver won't recompile (I use 1.0-6111); saying it has no precompiled kernel interface. KDM won't even start. I use SuSE 9.1. Any ideas?

RAID 5 configuration

Hi, I have a suse8.2 running on dell power 1600scm, Dual processors 3.2GHz, 1GB RAM,with PERC4 controller(RAID 5 configuration). I am noticing slow write speed, like copying file from location to another or untar compressed files,I know that writing speed in RAID 5 is slower than normal configuration. 1-how can i know that my RAID 5 configuration are correct? can i increase the writing speed 2- how can i make check that the server is using the dual processors. Missing Help and Screen Savers with kde 3.3 upgrade

Hello, Just finished upgrading from kde 3.2 to 3.3 on suse professional 9.1. About three things have happened since the upgrade. My help still shows 3.2, none of my screen savers work (they all say "No configuration available for <screensavername>") and when I try to test them of course they don't activate. Thirdly, this one is minor, but annoying I can't change my icon on the login screen, well I can change it, but it doesn't change on the login screen just shows the default person picture. I upgraded by downloading the kde directory, all but the source directory, from the supplementary folder under the folder for 9.1. Choosing the folder from "change source of installation" in yast and then doing a system update. The only thing that gave me any guff was digikam and I just said remove it. Any help on getting these things fixed, especially help and screen savers, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Troy

I apologize because I know this subject has been run over countless times. I bought a Toshiba PORTEGE 3490CT for my studies. During installation, I skipped the network configuration. Now I am struggling a bit to gain access to the wireless network. My card is recognized by YaST. Hi I have bought a new laptop. It's a GERICOM Hummer with a pentium 4 (hyperthreading) and 80GB HD with winxp. So I have installed SuSE Linux 9.1 also on it. I did also buy a usb mouse for it. But it didn't work. After some investigation I did understand that the hole usb system was not working. (rccoldplug restart and rchotplug restart could not help!!!) I did get the following error messages from /var/log/messages kernel: usb 1-3: new low speed USB device using address 4 kernel: usb 1-3: config 1 has an invalid interface number: 1 but max is 0 kernel: usb 1-3: can't read configurations, error -22 those errors were also posted in some other messages: http://forum.hardware.fr/hardwarefr/OSAlternatifs/sujet-41318-1.htm and also http://lists.debian.org/debian-user/2004/06/msg04134.html and the follow up http://lists.debian.org/debian-user/2004/06/msg03866.html and I tried the advice to compile a newer kernel. But I did get some bad harddisc problems. Look inside dmesg file. It can be found at: http://www.nwn.de/ebartels/linux/2.6.9_rc2_mm3_2h20_short.txt I did reduce the error messages. The original file is 7095 lines long. Those errors were gone if i did boot the default suse kernel or the 2.6.6 kernel again. Does it only work with old reiserfs partions ? 9. If I did the reiserfsck program on the /dev/hda6 partions at the kernels 2.6.7 - 2.6.9-rc2-mm3 it gives all the errors as seen below in the dmesg output and so I could not check that partion with those kernels. It seems to be a hardware problem of the harddisc but after booting with the default SuSE9.1 Kernel all hda6 errors are gone. Everything was mount fine. So I thing this can't be a harddisc problem!? Is there something wrong with the ide driver ? Is there something wrong with the reiserfs driver ? Is there something wrong with .. ? What else ? But why can the system boot the root partion? It is also an reiserfs partition! Does somebody know what I can to, test, analyse, solve this error ?
