php mail() and postfix/sendmail

hi - have been having problems with sendmail configuration. attempts to call the php mail() function get messages returned with the following: "This is the Postfix program at host beowulf.local. I'm sorry to have to inform you that the message returned below could not be delivered to one or more destinations. For further assistance, please send mail to <postmaster> If you do so, please include this problem report. You can delete your own text from the message returned below. The Postfix program <unknown>: No recipients specified" This is followed by a delivery report which says: "Final-Recipient: rfc822; unknown Action: failed Status: 5.0.0 Diagnostic-Code: X-Postfix; No recipients specified" However, the encapsulated message appears to have the recipients address fine (its a test message to my own account). The corresponding log entries in /var/log/mail appear to be: "Oct 2 09:27:36 beowulf postfix/pickup[9937]: 376921F5A4: uid=30 from=<wwwrun> Oct 2 09:27:36 beowulf postfix/cleanup[11095]: 376921F5A4: message-id=<20041002082735.376921F5A4(a)beowulf.local> Oct 2 09:27:36 beowulf postfix/cleanup[11095]: 376921F5A4: to=<unknown>, relay=none, delay=1, status=bounced (No recipients specified) Oct 2 09:27:36 beowulf postfix/cleanup[11099]: 52C4B1FC45: message-id=<20041002082736.52C4B1FC45(a)beowulf.local> Oct 2 09:27:36 beowulf postfix/qmgr[9938]: 52C4B1FC45: from=<>, size=1880, nrcpt=1 (queue active) Oct 2 09:27:36 beowulf postfix/local[11100]: 52C4B1FC45: to=<christopher(a)beowulf.local>, orig_to=<wwwrun(a)beowulf.local>, relay=local, delay=0, status=sent (delivered to mailbox) Oct 2 09:27:36 beowulf postfix/qmgr[9938]: 52C4B1FC45: removed" My entry for the mail function in /etc/php.ini simply sets the path to sendmail (i.e. /usr/sbin/sendmail), which certainly appears to be receiving the mail() function's requests (from 'wwwrun') If anyone can tell me what I'm doing wrong here, I would be extremely grateful...never encountered this problem before. Thanks in advance, Chris p.s. I know the php code in which I'm using the mail function is fine 'cos it works on my web host's RedHat setup.

Is there a way to convert a cue/bin image to iso? upgrade conflict on .png files?

After doing apt-get update and then apt-get upgrade I get this message: "file /opt/kde3/share/apps/kdm/pics/users/BeachBall.png from install of kdebase3-kdm-3.3.0-15 conflicts with file from package kdeutils3-3.2.1-61 Error while running transaction." I don't get it. How can a little picture file "conflict" with anything? What's to conflict about a picture file? There were two other such "conflicts", Butterfly.png and Flower.png. Could someone explain, in small words please? I could understand missing or corrupted... but a portable network graphics drawing of a beachball conflicts with. . . well, what can a picture conflict with? Kevin

apt broke my gnome

i did apt-get update apt-get upgrade apt-get install ulb-gnome but i get this error when i try gnome /opt/gnome/bin/gnome-session: error while loading shared libraries: /opt/gnome/lib/libgnomecanvas-2.so.0: undefined symbol : gdk_threads_lock any help?

SuSE 9.1 and Gaim

Hi. I want to have Gaim to show Danish, and have done the setup in Controle Center in KDE. Most of the installed aplications speak Danish now, but not Gaim. Importing old evolution data

Hi, I'm using the latest and greatest ULB-gnome + evo. Now, I'm having a big problem importing my old contacts. It seems that Evo doesn't manage to import it's old contactfiles. Does anyone know a workaround? Also, regarding apt, is it ok to have both the packman-i686 and packman sources in my sourcelist? Yours Tarjei

Playing midi files

I am trying to play a *.mid file. kdemultimedia3-midi does nothing. I installed pmidi, and got the following error message: No client/port specified. You must supply one with the -p option or with the environment variable ALSA_OUTPUT_PORTS I am running SuSE 8.2 on an ECS K7S5A motherboard with on-board sound. YaST thinks this is an SiS SI7012 card, but lsmod reports that the snd-intel8x0, snd-ac97-codec, snd-mpu401-uart, and snd-rawmidi modules are loaded. The motherboard manual refers to the AC'97 audio codec. There is a YaST "Sound card advanced options" dialog box that allows me to set joystick and MPU401 ports (again referencing the Intel i8x0)), but are these relevant? What am I doing wrong? Please do not be afraid of talking down to me about what "midi" is! Peter Taylor

first step in setting up a fax

Hi, I'm a very simple end user who has purchased a copy of SuSE Pro 9.1. I've actually been a user since 7.3, and have never figured out how to send or receive a fax with SuSE. I have used YAST 2 to search for "fax", and checked all the appropriate boxes, and YAST 2 got rid of all of the conflicts, etc. I have hit Alt F2 to get the "run command" dialogue box, and have entered hylafax to start the fax program, but I have gotten the error message "could not run the specified command." I have gone to the SuSE knowledge base, and gotten thoroughly confused. My question is kinda simple, at least for now: How do you start the fax program? Thanks in advance. Package installation mess

Hi, I am currently running SuSE 9.1 Professional and I find that the package installation mechanisms are quite a mess. I see that there are at least three different set of utilities available - each with its own set of command line and graphical interface. 1. Yast2 : This is what comes with SuSE 9.1 professional. Command line yast and graphical yast2. 2. apt-get: This is apt4rpm tool. It has synaptics, kynpatics etc. graphical interfaces. Some popular packagers (e.g. guru, packman etc.) use this. 3. Red Carpet: This is Ximian's red carpet, which is now bought by Novell. It has command-line rug and the redcarpet. I have to work with all these because some of the things are available in only one of them. Yast2 is of course needed as it is the distribution's default packager - all updates come through it (I think). I keep apt-get for some of the packages by guru, packman etc. I use redcarpet because of ximian-connector and evolution's develoment versions for suse. I think this is a mess. There should be just one way to install packages. Now that Ximian and Suse both are part of Novell, is there a way to come up with a unified package installer for future versions of Suse? Osho
