Firefox 1.0 RC1 was released today. Does anyone know a apt repository for Suse 9.1 where I can get this? I currently have 0.93 version of firefox and would like to update. thanks, -- Osho

Prolific usb problem

I need to know how to configure this usb modem on my suse 9.0 machine. It is not a ACM compatible device but rather a usb-serial device. It keeps on syaing that no driver is attached to the device. The vendor code is 0x67b and the product code is 0x2303. Does anybody have an idea? Eben eben(a)nsiit.com

Thanks for the quick response Mark! will keep this on the list, it might also help someone else! yes, no errors, but i was a bit alarmed by the warnings! streamdvd is in the directory shown in the last line of the debugging list: linux:/home/plain/dls/dvdshtuff/StreamDVD-0.4 the -0.3version is in the... -0.3 directory. Printer on windows (YAST 9.1 bug???)

I have the following problem: I have a printer on a Win2K server and I use a computer with Suse 9.1. I have samba installed and updated. If I enter the command: $ smbclient //joaquina/LaserJet -U ********%******** -c 'print teste.txt' where the asteriscs replace the username and password, I have the following output: Domain=[JOAQUINA] OS=[Windows 5.0] Server=[Windows 2000 LAN Manager] putting file teste.txt as teste.txt (6.1 kb/s) (average 6.1 kb/s) and the printer prints readily. But when I try to configure the SMB printer through YAST, it gives me the following error message (just the last lines): Testing LaserJet on joaquina Anonymous login successful tree connect failed: NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED It seems to me that the program is not using the username and password I gave to it. The intriguing thing is that performing exactly the same operations in the Suse 9.0, I am able to configure the SMB printer easily. All that indicates a bug in YAST 9.1. Can anybody help me on that???? You know that in konqueror, we can select a number of files by drawing a rectangle around them; But, by drawing another rectangle around some of selected files, they should go out of selection; This is true for nautilus but false for konqueror. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? k-mail address books

Hello everyone: Under KDE's k-mail, there are two major locations for addresses: 1) Other addresses (most often used) and 2) Recent addresses (usually one-ofs). Is there a way to store both of these address lists on an external media (floppy, CD)? Cheers, Mike

New kernel problems...ltmodem

Since upgrading to kernel 2.6.5-7.111 I noticed that my notebook's Lucent winmodem suddenly isn't working. The KInternet log file says that /dev/modem doesn't exist (which it does and is linked to the correct /dev/ttyLT0 device). ltmodem has also been upgraded to 2.6.2-38-8 from 2.6.2-36. If I roll back the change to the kernel and the modem driver the modem works again. Anyone else run into this? Past upgrades haven't broken the link - I wondered if maybe there's a problem with the new ltmodem driver? Cheers, cm

Kalarm 3.3.1 Problem

I use SuSE 9.1 Kernel 2.6.8 vanilla and kde 3.3.1 (rpms from ftp.kde.org/pub/kde/...) All of a sudden kalarm gives me this crud: Cannot enable alarms: Failed to register with Alarm Daemon (kalarmd) I have installed ALL of the kdepim3*-3.3.1 rpms Everything worked then all of a sudden this. What is wrong?
