Samba printer share access from different Network

Greetings, Here is the senario, I hope someone can give a bit of guidance here! ;-} I will try and explain as clearly as I can. Network layout. networkA 192.168.2.0 networkB 196.25.100.0 I have a printer on networkA @ ip 192.168.2.5 which is my laptop. (chadlap) I have another PC on networkB @ 196.25.100.120 which is a windows PC in between there is a PC running as a router called fireman with two ethernets ( eth0 192.168.2.1) and (eth1 196.25.100.151), fireman has ip_forwarding enabled and a tiny firewall script written in iptables. (default INPUT policy is to DROP, default OUTPUT is ACCEPT, default FORWARD is ACCEPT) 192.168.2.5 and 196.25.100.120 both use fireman as the default gw How would I configure the firewall with iptables to allow 196.25.100.120 to print to 192.168.2.5 ? Chadlap is configured with samba 3.0.2 and the printer sharing is tested and is working. Printer Problem

I am running KDE3.3.1 on a SuSE9.0 partition with my printer on a WinXP Pro box on my LAN. I setup the printer using YaST as HP DeskJet 610C: Queue HP on SMB server igor.ffc Configured as: HP [test] - ready. This happily prints out the test pages without any complaints. The problem starts when I attempt to print from any other applicaton. At that point the print process bombs with the following error message(s): print error occurred. I had attempted to use CUPS for printing and failed miserable. Presently the only way that I can print something is to save it as a document, move it to the WinXP machine and print it there. Xorg 6.8.1 & the query command

I do not know if this is specific to xorg, because I just learned about it after the switch... here's what's happening.. While at school, on my laptop using wireless. I did a 'X :2 -query XXX.XXX.usf.edu' It came up with the solaras login with no problems. At home on my wireless network (W/ linksys router) I do the same thing and get just a x windows gray screen and it goes off to never never land. I friend of mine says he had the same problem, but when he connected his laptop directly to his cable connection it worked.. Any ideas .. If needed let me know what log/config parts to send and I will.. Prolific usb hub

9.1 you local update

Hi, Slight problem here. I had a friend download the updates from a suse mirror. I copied the updates to a local directory and tried to run YOU. I turned off the YAST@_LOADFTPSERVER and added the local directory to /etc/youservers but when I try to run the update I get the message: "Patch information retrieval failed." "error Unable to read the directory './i386/update/9.1/patches'." Any thoughts?

gnome-panel (ulb 2.8) problem

One for James, this. My gnome-panel "vibrates" when occasional applications are open: I can't think of any other way to describe it! It has happened with Firefox and Seahorse, but not every time. Where should I look for clues - starting the applicaton from a terminal doesn't help. Help needed: wpa_supplicant on SuSE 9.1 Pro

My Toshiba laptop works fine with wireless-G (atheros chipset) with WEP and DHCP on SuSE 9.1. Now I am trying to get wpa_supplicant to work so I could switch to WPA-SPK. I downloaded and tried to compile the latest wpa_supplicant but found that the madwifi driver (the driver for the atheros chip) that came with 9.1 is too old. So I downloaded, compiled and installed the latest madwifi driver and got it up and working in WEP mode. So far so good. The header files from the new madwifi driver tarball also allowed me to successfully compile and install wpa_supplicant. Now, I am trying to get it all to behave nicely with SuSE's network configuration and startup programs and scripts. Herein lies the problem. I modified the /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-wlan-* file to remove the WEP key stuff. I can manually start the network with rcnetwork start; manually start the wpa_supplicant daemon with the appropriate options, then manually iwconfig the ssid, rate; manually ifconfig the IP number, netmask and broadcast; manually set the default route; and manually create a valid /etc/resolv.conf. This makes a fully working wireless connection. However, I can't get it all to play automatically via DHCP. Here are the questions. 1. What's a good place to insert the command to start the wpa_supplicant daemon? It seems that it matters when wpa_supplicant should be started. Start it too soon before the network is configured, and it doesn't work. Wait too long after I manually configure things, and it doesn't work either. Also, wpa_supplicant needs to be killed when the network is stopped, or else it seems to bring up the interface again (without fully configuring everything). So I need also some tips on where to insert the command to stop wpa_supplicant during network shutdown. 2. Any concrete examples of what the /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-wlan-* file should look like? I wonder if I am missing something. 3. Any thoughts why DHCP doesn't work when I enable the interface and start wpa_supplicant? I googled and found some threads but nothing helped me solve this problem, and there were some discussions on the suse-laptop list in German that I do not understand. Am I treading on uncharted waters? Since WEP is not secure enough I'd really like to get WPA going. Hope that someone could provide some help.
