Procmail-Postfix Problem

Hello SuSE gurus This was a very long thread originally called Postfix Question. Still continue to have problems. Slightly different now though. Cannot get Procmail to work properly. Background, KDE 3.3 & Kmail 1.7 I have 3 email addresses.one of which is rnr(a)sanctum.com Originally I could not send out emails unless I downloaded mails first. Carlos E.R. gave me a step by step of how to setup Procmail in Yast. During that process I changed the name of my local address to "EasyStreet" hoping that it would make things a little clearer for me. That worked for sending messages. (somewhat) Now I find that emails cannot be downloaded to that address. The other two are OK. After losing a bunch of messages to that address, I went to a Windoz machine and sent myself some test messages. This is the result: There were two notifications to me for each message that I sent. One being a "Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender" and the other a "No Subject" Following is the content of those messages : ------------------------------------------------------ Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender Date: Sun Oct 3 22:48:39 2004 From: Mail Delivery System <MAILER-DAEMON(a)easystreet.local> To: rnr(a)sanctum.com This is the Postfix program at host EasyStreet.local. BSD games - was WTF /Fan thread

so the recent discussion surrounding the "wtf is wtf" command prompted me to install the bsd games package, i figured wtf, i'll play some cribbage and maybe some backgammon and install fortune to my MOTD, -thats message of the day, for those who don't have wtf ;) anyway NO fortune -wtf! it says it is included in the description, see:http://www.suse.de/en/private/products/suse_linux/prof/packages_professional/bsd-games.html maybe this was dicovered before and i missed the thread, anyway i couldn't resist saying wtf three or four times......

kdar backup question.

Hello SuSE folk. Congratulations to me. Just got message 9.2 has been shipped to me. Awaiting it is a brand new AMD 64 system. Intend to swap both old hard drives into the new box with a gig of ram. The drives are 6gb (hda windoz) where the backup is, and a 80gb llnux (SuSE 8.2) which I will wipe and repartition for 9.2 (Should I use "virtual" drives to avoid the hassle of determining partition sizes?)(right now I have six different partitions for 8.2) One thing that bothers me is when I plug in the windoz hd (W98) it will be in a comletely new environment. Hope I don't have to reinstall windows to get at my saved files on that disk. What do you all think about that? Preparing for this, I have been doing kdar backups of my /home partition and some other /data partitions which I want to keep onto the other drive in my old system. (hda, as above) Now, after installing 9.2 onto hdb I will need to restore my /home and the other / partiions which I have saved-backed up. I guess the first order of business would be to install kdar since it would have been wiped with the repartioning process. Not sure about this but I think I can pick and choose from the backup on hda to my new partitions on hdb. Next, (or before) I would have to go and download apt, right? It is a different version for 9.0 and higher than my 8.2 version I think. I have always thought that apt and Yast2 were mutually exclusive, You can only use one or the other, but lately on the list people have been saying they can use both. I really love apt and have been using it for years. Have never ever used Yast for updates. Question is: Am I going about this in the right way? Any suggestions, corrections from the guru's on this list? Bob S PS There will probably be some 64 bit questions coming soon.

SATA drive--?

Hello, list gurus: I've been hearing about SATA drives, lately. What are they, and can they plug into a regular drive controller, or do they need some special controller card, or what? They must have some advantage over whatever we should call normal drives, so what is it? --doug

[SLE] SOLVED - Problem installing Tapeware

I downloaded the SP 5C upgrade from the Tapeware site. This version installed without problems on SuSE 9.0 & 9.1 Pro, as well as SLES 9.0. I had a similar problem with TapeWare 7 on NetWare 6. In my case it was a misconfigured router that didn't allow the TapeWare traffic between the boxes. I can't see other than it could be the kernel or glibc versions that isn't compatible. I run TapeWare perfectly well on SLSTD, SL 9 and 9.1. I haven't tried it yet on SLES9 or SL 9.2, so I can't really help... But take a look at your router/gateways configs. Anders Norrbring Norrbring Consulting

9.2 on Thinkpad T23

Well, I upgraded to 9.2 from 9.1 and for some reason my Thinkpad modem will not work. /dev/modem returns no such file or address and wvdial barfs. I have the ltmodem package installed (Yast installed it for me). Anyone have any idea why 2.6.8 would suddenly stop my modem working ? This is an odd problem, and even if I manually load the lt_modem module it does the same thing. HELP! Nothing I could point to and say "this doesn't work", but a zillion weird intermittants. I switched to Siig SCSI controllers and everything worked again.
