[SLE] netscrap 4.75 bus errors - xshared?

[SLE] password authentication error: no carrier

[SLE] nvidia geforce2 tqueue error

ok ... o i installed 6.4 with no X or mesa. i used yast to install XFree4.0.1 from ftp.suse.com. i installed the suse 6.4 nvidia drivers (kernel and glx) from the nvidia ftp site via yast. i made sure the agpgart module was loaded per the instructions from toms.hardware. when i try to insmod the NVdriver i get the unresolved symbol tqueue_lock error. toms.hardware states that this error is from using SMP. this is not an smp box, and i'm using the optimized pentium kernel from the 6.4 distro and i did not download the SMP nvidia kernel module. i'm open to suggestions/help/etc ... -- michael -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe(a)suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help(a)suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq

[SLE] 6.4/geforce2/XF864.0.1 success

ok ... here is what i did to make this work on top of my clean 6.4/XF86 4.0.1 install: 1. downloaded kernel 2.2.17 from ftp.kernel.org (could not find 2.2.18x) 2. downloaded the nvidia driver sources from nvidia. 3. built and installed a new kernel. 4. built the nvidia kernel module and the glx libraries. 5. ran sax2, configured a 640x480 xconfig. 6. reran sax2 and configure a new 1024x760 xconfig. the hardware is AMD800/asusAV7 mainboard/asus7700geforce2. so far so good -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe(a)suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help(a)suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq

[SLE] Oops! forgot the script: script doesn't work the same via exec vs a call...

When I put my bbs_login shell script as the last line in ./bashrc, the script behaves as designed. The user is prompted for an option and the script waits for a user response. The only problem is that the user can't logout of the account from within the script. The 'exit' command merely returns the user to the login shell. To get around that problem I made the bbs_login script a login shell by putting "exec bbs_login" as the last line in the users ./profile script. The menu displays ok but the read commands don't work. The menu constantly redisplays as if the read mychoice option were being preempted by a background process. What can I do to make it behave as a login shell like it behaves as a called script?
