[opensuse] 11.3 Webpin Still on the Fritz?

Guys, Should webpin for 11.3 be working yet? If so, it isn't. I just tried to use the web interface to find hylafax and got zero results. Checking the checkbox for 11.2 works fine, but 11.3 is dead. Examples: 11.3 broken http://packages.opensuse-community.org/index.jsp?searchTerm=hylafax&distro=… 11.2 working: http://packages.opensuse-community.org/index.jsp?distro=openSUSE_112&search… Looking at the order of the distro and searchTerm post data (I guess), they are in the opposite order. Trying 11.3 with the 11.2 order doesn't make any difference. (just testing) Any idea when this will be fixed? Do we need a bug against it? -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E. [opensuse] If you host a local repo or mirror, see bug 638736 for help moving from createrepo 0.4x-0.9x

Guys, There have been a number of changes in createrepo in the move from createrepo 0.4x to 0.9x and rpm5 that can introduce sensitivities to packaging variations that can cause createrepo to fail on packages that have slight variations in their metadata. Rare, but the most recent was the 11.3 nasm package. If you maintain a local repo or mirror and have createrepo problems, I have laid out the issues in: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=638736 and posted a patch from the devs at baseurl.org (the yum/createrepo folks) that solves some of the issues with suse's continued use of the RPMSENSE_PREREQ attribute. The suse packages are probably fine, but for anyone hosting a suse repo on another distro, there are a couple of gotchas that can bite you. The fixes are simple, but hard to find. HTH some other soul that finds themselves in the same fix. If you never plan on hosting a repo, then just hit 'del' :p -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E. [opensuse] using Postgrey

Hi, I installed and activated Postgrey. Seems to work for now. Then only problem I have is the reject text. I'm unable to modify it to what I would like it to be. With the sysconfig editor I modified the POSTGREY_EXTRA_OPTIONS. I added '--postgrey-text=Greylisted, try again in %s seconds.'. Only the word 'Greylisted' is output. I tried several other combinations, with single quotes, with double quotes ... Does anyone have a working example ? [opensuse] Chat programs for local use

I want to allow chat between a few developers on the same LAN, but in different offices. We started with talk, which in fact works fine - with one issue: getting attention when a message has arrived. So, I am exploring options. Anyone have a suggestion for a decent local chat system? By local, I mean that it cannot use external resources / servers. We need to run whatever is needed on our own systems (our workstations or an internal server). It would be great if it ran on openSUSE 11.2 and newer. I see smuxi, which is a client and server. [opensuse] Moving to IPv6 - which hardware?

Maybe we should get this thread back on track and focus on IPv6 - we've recently upgraded to LANCOM DSL modem, which unfortunately does not (yet?) support IPv6. Unless LANCOM brings out IPv6 support in the next year or so, my intention is to set it up in bridging mode (RFC1483) and run pppd/pppoe on my gateway. It's not an entirely trivial exercise, last time I attempted it, I stumbled over something in openSUSEs pppd setup that didn't work. There is a bug report on it, but I didn't have the time to investigate it any further, so it was closed. One alternative would be different hardware - wrt professional xDSL routers, what is out there that excplicitly supports IPv6? [opensuse] I want SCPM back!

I am disappointed to discover that SCPM is not anymore on OpenSUSE. Networkmanager is NOT a replacement. I need to do heavy changes to configurations as I change networks. I am using the packages from 11.2, but I really WANT SCPM back. I hope that if we are many, scpm packages will be released again.
