[opensuse] Anyone successfully using Philips SPC 620 NC webcam?

Hi there, the video part of this webcam works fine with the uvcvideo driver. But, the USB sound part may be totally broken, maybe broken firmware, it was already discussed with people form pulseaudio and ALSA. But, to be sure, I would like to know, is there anyone using this webcam *successfully* with its USB audio microphone? I know there are successors, the SPC 900 and SPC 1000, their USB audio may work better, but I don't know. [opensuse] setting up SMB printer using Yast - Suse 11.1

Hello, Noticed and interesting change when setting up an SMB printer in Suse 11.1. There is no printer lookup function in the UI so you need to know the name of the printer and the manufacturer before you can set it up. In Suse 10.3 you can select 'Look Up' to get a list of printers hosted on the Windows server. Is there a way to get the functionality in Yast in Suse 11.1? Hi list, - I got my KDE4.n screwed up by updating as one is supposed to do now and then. My machine is a critical production tool. I cannot do with a complete buggy desktop. [opensuse] ni title, min, max and close button after activated compiz

[opensuse] Strange behaviour: yast2 hangs during startup

Hello every body, when starting yast2 from the command line after becoming root via e.g. "yast2 sw_single" or "yast2 lan" yast2 gets stuck within waitpid (at least strace told me that) - until now, I have not found the process yast2 is waiting for at this point. The curious things is: starting yast2 via the kde menu, ALT-F2 or even from the command line via ssh works fine, I did not observe any hangs so far, using these options. So far, google did not provide me any useful suggestions. I do not think that another yast2/zypper/... activity is blocking yast2, otherwise starting yast2 via the kde menu or ALT-F2 would not work either. Any hints are welcome. [opensuse] Update to compiz 8.2 killed Cube Reflection and Deformation for 11.0

Listmates, I was glad to see compiz 8.2 finally in the XGL repository. I knew it would run well on this box, I run it in my archlinux install on the same box. However, something is wrong with the openSuSE rpm for 11.0. The first thing I noticed was the cylinder rotation was gone. I then checked the "Cube Reflection and Deformation" setting and it was unchecked. I then attempted to check it, the check mark appeared, then 3 seconds later the checkmark removed itself just like the XGL mess that we went through in the compiz 6x to 7x transition. To test, I completely uninstalled compiz: rpm -e $(rpm -qa | grep compiz) fusion-icon and then reloaded compiz from the X11/XGL repository like I have always done. Same problem. The packages I have installed are: compiz-branding-openSUSE-0.8.2-92.1 compiz-0.8.2-92.1 compiz-plugins-main-0.8.2-10.1 compiz-kde-0.8.2-92.1 python-compizconfig-0.8.2-3.1 compiz-emerald-0.8.2-2.1 compizconfig-settings-manager-0.8.2-6.1 libcompizconfig-0.8.2-9.1 compiz-plugins-extra-0.8.2-8.1 fusion-icon-0.0.1_080201-5.1 emerald-themes-extra-0.1.0-5.1.noarch.rpm This is with 11.0 and the fglrx driver. Everything else seems OK, wobbly, expo, scale, shift-switch, opacity, zoom, etc.. just not Cube Reflection and Deformation. Anybody know the solution? Anybody else seeing this?? -- David C.
