[opensuse] Console crashes in KDE4.1, krunner crashed

Hi list, - I just followed Sven's advise (thank you) to refresh/upgrade my openSuSE11.1 installation. - hmmm...it didn't fix anything - but gave me a number of additional problems (for which Sven is NOT to blame, certainly not). One of the funny things is that when I login, a dialog comes up says: krunner crashed... If I open up a console, this console will crash uppon exit. Worse, if I open up two or more consoles (I do a lot of remote SSH work), when I exit just (any)one console, they ALL crash. Quite annoying... Again, any ideas? [opensuse] Making KDE the default desktop once again

Frank Karlitschek has posted on his blog about the possibility of having openSUSE use KDE as the default desktop. <http://blog.karlitschek.de/2009/07/lets-make-kde-default-in-opensuse.html> This is an interesting question, historically KDE was the default desktop of SuSE, until what seemed like internal politics made a play to have GNOME pushed as the preferred option instead. From the outside one can only speculate what happened at that time but the end result is we have the choice of either GNOME or KDE at install time. The majority of the openSUSE user base uses KDE, this is not in dispute. Would it not then make more sense to have KDE as the default desktop? What do you think? Has having a choice of desktop at installation time brought any tangible benefit? Should openSUSE go back to using KDE as the default desktop or maybe you think that GNOME should be the default desktop instead? [opensuse] Unable to do Online Update/Package Management.More detailed report.

First I can download the file primary.xml.gz without problem using Firefox. In Yast the proxy settings are empty(not established).The firewall I use is the suSE Firewall configured automatically on install. The exact error message is: Download(curl) error for "http://download.opensuse.org/.../primary.xml.gz" Error code unrecognized error. Error message: transfer closed with 951976 bytes remaining to read. When I close this error message appears a second: Cannot access installation media (Medium 1) Check whether the server is accessible. [opensuse] curl error-connection time out

Today I finally installing opensuse 11.1 kde 4.2 in all machines. Q. Using yast software manager to update the system very often I get a curl error and a connection time out. I retry and everything is OK. Everything is working OK but I had to be behind the screen to interact all the time with this connection time outs. I do not remember anything like that previously. [opensuse] Disappearing mouse functions

I have suddenly have had my mouse button function quit working minutes after logging in. I may not even be able to finish typing this message before it quits. The curser mover around but after it happens I can no longer click with either the left or right button. It makes web searches difficult as well to try to find an answer. I am using 11.1 32bit KDE 3.5 I also allowed a couple updates in the last day. Any pointers would be appreciated. [opensuse] update a 11.1 server

Hello, I used to use yast to configure my server automatic updates, but the last one was 10.1 :-) now with 11.1 I don't find any yast module to configure *automatic* update. [opensuse] Python error

Hi all, I know its just I need to install something, but I'm not sure what. When I give this command: python setup.py install I get this error: running install error: invalid Python installation: unable to open /usr/lib/python2.5/config/Makefile (No such file or directory) I have python 2.5.2 installed on SuSE 11.1 but I guess that I'm missing something. If I install a second version on a spare partition then my mbr is set to the fresh installed grub. Is there an option in the install procedure "DON"T touch the MBR" ? We are using a SLES 10 SP2 system where we installed a Mail Server according to this tutorial: http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/feature/16264.html Everything is running fine except for the Masquerading feature. For instance the e-mail sender should have this "user(a)example.com" form but it appears as "user@mail-s. example.com". Here is now the relevant /etc/postfix/main.cf entry: ............... ............... masquerade_domains=ldap:/etc/postfix/ldapmasquerade_domains.cf ................. ldapmasquerade_domains.cf has this content: # This file was created by yast2-mail-server. Please do not edit it! server_host=localhost query_filter=(&(objectclass=suseMailDomain)(zoneName=%s) (suseMailDomainMasquerading=yes)) search_base=ou=DNS,dc=example,dc=com timeout=20 result_attribute=zoneName bind=no server_port=389 scope=sub # By** using "masquerade_domains=example.com" in the main.cf file, the sender is now as we want to see it ie. "user(a)example.com". Any idea what's wrong with the ldapmasquerade_domains.cf configuration?
