[opensuse] 11.0-x64/Firefox 3.5 100% cpu usage

I've run into a problem recently with Firefox v3.5 on openSUSE 11.0/x64. For some reason, it will just start using over 100% cpu on my dual core system, and I will have to kill it and restart it for it to become usable again. Where would I look in the logs to see if it's reporting anything? Also, the openSUSE updater icon did not show that there was an update for Firefox. I was shown one once I did a zypper up. This is the current version after the update: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.1.0) Gecko/20090623 SUSE/3.5.0-2.1 Firefox/3.5 Which is still not the current version from Mozilla's website, which is at v3.5.1. So, I went into Software Management and checked, and there was an update to go to 3.5.1......... so I checked update and now I have: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.1.1) Gecko/20090714 SUSE/3.5.1-1.1 Firefox/3.5.1 Does anyone know why the 3.5.1 update wasn't installed automatically? [opensuse] Turn off computer

Hello, 1. Newbie, don't knock !!! 2. When selecting : 'Turn off computer', all the services seem to go down in due order until 'turn off sound card' included. 3. Then nothing... My PC does not get powered off. (I have to pull the plug to put it to sleep). 4. I got a HP PC SET A6543/W2216, 4GB CPU, 500 GB HD 5. Running on openSuse/Novell 10.3. I'm trying to make a bootable USB flash drive. [opensuse] Router ports

Hi, I appreciate that NAT routers will differ in their specification, but I think this is a generic question. For info, my router is a Draytek Vigor 2800v. Do NAT routers only block ports above 1024? Or, to put it another way, do I have to explicitly open/redirect ports below 1024? Thanks. [opensuse] openSUSE Completelu Run on RAM?

Hi there, Is this possible to completely running openSUSE from RAM (using RAMFS or TMPFS) which should be faster than a standard disk? I would like to test openSUSE with standard app (office with kde or gnome base or even with xfce or icewm). Our workstation has minimum 4-8 GB of RAM and all of data load and save onto server. I know it's possible to do that with small Linux distro like Puppy or DSL but it should be an interesting work to make openSUSE run on RAM instead of disk. [opensuse] Java update killed font anti-aliasing (11.1)

Hi, Yesterday the Updater Applet notified me of an available Java update which I installed. As a result fonts are no longer anti-aliased in at least one Java application (BlogBridge). I have not checked the others yet. [opensuse] Losing NFS mounts on 11.1

I recently upgraded from 10.3 to 11.1 on my laptop. I'm pretty happy with it so far except for one problem. I have some nfs mounts, and when I switch from wireless to wired or vice versa, I immediately lose the mounts. On 10.3 I could switch back and forth and the mounts would stay connected, or reconnect in the background, not sure which. I've looked through the man page and don't see anything relevant. It looks liked my smbmounts stay connected, so it's only nfs mounts I lose. Any ideas? [opensuse] Annoying Desktop behaviour of Programmes

Hi all, what is beginning to be quite annoying is working with different Desktops. I have different working groups organised on a desktop each. I often have OpenOffice Writer, Calc and Firefox open on various desktops. When I open up a link on Desktop 1 in Thunderbird, a window opens on the latest FireFox I used prevously; the one on the other desktop I used last. I have to hunt down in which desktop it opened by going to each desktop and activate it. This also happens when I open an OpenOffice document or calc file with konqueror. Closing all apps on the desktops before going to another desktop defeats the purpose of having different desktops - or have I missed the rational behind different desktops. [opensuse] How do I re-create a DVD from the backup created by vobcopy?

Listmates, How do I re-create a DVD from the backup created by vobcopy? I have searched and I have read howto after howto and I still am stuck. Between ffmpeg this, dvdauthor that, qdvdauthor this to, I'm confused. I have written a script to properly prepare the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS directories and to parse the filenames and copy the vob files saved with vobcopy to VTS_XX_Y.VOB and place them along with the IFO files in the VIDEO_TS directory. I get that I'm missing the BUP files and that somehow dvdauthor is supposed to recreate them, but that is where I get stuck. When I try and use qdvdauthor, it tries to completely ffmpeg decode/encode the original vob files to another separate directory. Why? I already have the vob files under VIDEO_TS, they were just ripped, why decode and reencode them? Seems nuts.
