[opensuse] 11.0-x64/Firefox 3.5 100% cpu usage
I've run into a problem recently with Firefox v3.5 on openSUSE 11.0/x64. For some reason, it will just start using over 100% cpu on my dual core system, and I will have to kill it and restart it for it to become usable again. Where would I look in the logs to see if it's reporting anything? Also, the openSUSE updater icon did not show that there was an update for Firefox. I was shown one once I did a zypper up. This is the current version after the update: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.1.0) Gecko/20090623 SUSE/3.5.0-2.1 Firefox/3.5 Which is still not the current version from Mozilla's website, which is at v3.5.1. So, I went into Software Management and checked, and there was an update to go to 3.5.1......... so I checked update and now I have: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.1.1) Gecko/20090714 SUSE/3.5.1-1.1 Firefox/3.5.1 Does anyone know why the 3.5.1 update wasn't installed automatically? I'm using 3.5.1 32-bit and it works really well; almost unbelievably faster than 3.0.x -- OpenGroupware developer: awilliam@whitemice.org http://whitemiceconsulting.blogspot.com/ OpenGroupare & Cyrus IMAPd documenation @ http://docs.opengroupware.org/Members/whitemice/wmogag/file_view -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I have that repo, which is why I have 3.5(you'd only have 3.0.11 if you had the updates repo). However, it didn't offer the update to v3.5.1 automatically. I had to select update via YaST. Also, I had to use zypper to get the update for 3.5 because the updater didn't show it as being available, and that one wasn't for 3.5.1.

It's somewhat faster, but the 100% cpu usage has me stumped. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Maybe that is normal since that would change the packages source [vendor?]?

Yea, that seems weird. -- OpenGroupware developer: awilliam@whitemice.org http://whitemiceconsulting.blogspot.com/ OpenGroupare & Cyrus IMAPd documenation @ http://docs.opengroupware.org/Members/whitemice/wmogag/file_view -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

The Update repo is by default priority 20, while any repo that is added by user is 99, where smaller number means higher priority. As long as Update repo provides package, Mozilla repo will be ignored. The other possible reason, not to see FF 3.5, could be in updater applet itself that is not instructed to show all available updates. Although, I don't think that Larry missed that bit. -- Regards, Rajko http://news.opensuse.org/category/people-of-opensuse/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I guess it only shows official updates. 11.1 ships 3.0.x so it seems unlikely that 11.0 has an official 3.5 update. Sven -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
