[opensuse] Problem with qla2xxx in 10.3

Hi, we are running openSUSE 10.3 on one of our servers. A QLogic QLA2340 card is installed to connect to our raid. I installed the qlogic-firmware package. When the module gets loaded, I get some strange errors, but after the module works. I attached the logs below. I started the module with ql2xextended_error_logging=1. Does anybody know what causes the Problem and how to solve it? Is it save to ignore the error? [opensuse] Howto handle init scripts that require network where networkmanager used?

Listmates: Interesting problem. I have created an init script and assigned it to S22 and K01 in runlevels 3 & 5. Basically, among other things it mounts several cifs shaers and therefore requires networking to be up. The only problem is that the script is being executed on a notebook where bringing up the network relies on network manager executing and establishing the connection which does not happen until user login to kde. [opensuse] I can't eradicate those **** 32bit packages from my openSuse 11

As for $Subject: it's simply not possible to eradicate all 32-bit packages from my x86_64 installation because of dependencies on glibc-32bit, due to flash and realplayer. Please guys, can you please refrain from adding those artificial dependencies? Not everybody want to have RealPlayer and Flash installed, just like me that avoid them like the plague. I wonder how much space, bandwidth and time would be saved by just moving that 32bit stuff to a separate repository. When I try to mount the DFS share from the Linux box mount.cifs, the following error occurs: #mount -t cifs //172.29.1.11/dfsroot /mnt/dfs -o user=userid,pass=password,dom=DOM mount error 66 = Object is remote Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g.man mount.cifs) # Please let me know whether I'm missing out anything. [opensuse] can't send mail using seamonkey on comcast

I have been using seamonkey on suse 10.3 and 11.0, , on comcast for 2 years, no problem sending mail. Now I can't send mail. Comcast was no help, as usual. I checked google and the problem was that comcast does'nt use port 25 for smtp.comcast.net server, they use port 587, So I changed the port from 25 to 587 folowing instructions on internet. Called comcast again, still can't send mail, they don't support seamonkey. Comcast said they do this to protect me from viruses. They want me to use Outlook and Internet Explorer, I say thats where all the viruses are received, thats why I use seamonkey or thunderbird in linux. Still no help. They don't support linux. I put my problem on comcast & seamonkey newsgroups but the users there are micro$oft brainwashed. I can use seamonkey in win XP to send mail. Comcast did something to prevent linux users from using seamonkey or thunderbird. [opensuse] Strange i/o difference between identical webservers

I have 3 webservers. They are symmetrically load-balanced in the DNS, so the HTTP requests and the numbers of requests per second are identical. They run apache (with worker MPM), and serve a lot of small static files (about 1KB ) which are in a big directory tree in ReiserFS. The total size of these files is 3GB. The apache is compiled identically, the configuration of apache is also identical. Networking/firewall configuration is identical, there's no other software on the machines. It is very small for good servers, and about 100x larger for the problematic server. Note that all servers have plenty of free RAM, so caching files by OS *should not* be a problem. Same thing is shown by sar -d %util is very small for good servers, and about 30-70% for the overloaded server. Could someone shed any light on the possible source of this mysterious disparity? [opensuse] Xine Not Working in KDE 4

Well, I DO have KDE4's desktop effects enabled. So, I disabled them and tried xine again. Well, this time it worked! Disabling KDE's desktop effects allows xine to work properly. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, have you gotten it to work with desktop effects enabled?
