Donald,
It appears that I toppost due to the way your messages are seen when I reply. They only give the
header. Top-posting is not the correct way to answer.
At any rate, My kernel is:
Linux 2.6.25.5-1.1-pae #1 SMP 2008-06-07 01:55:22 +0200 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
I installed from a fresh installation as well. I did not upgrade.
You can try one of these.
1. If you did not do a fresh install, go to Yast->Hardware->sound and remove the sound card, exit
and then reinstall the card via Yast (see Rajko's reply for the howto.
2. Do a fresh install and see if that helps.
3. Reboot, but when it asks for boot options type (without the quotation marks) "acpi=off" and see if that
helps, could be some irq issues.
Intel sound cards have always been my nemesis. My soundcard did not work in 10.3.
BTW, I am not an expert by any means, I am just a hobbyist user.
HTH.
