HI,
I've write some keymap in the ~/.Xmodmap, when I restart the system,
it can be loaded automatically. And everytime I need xmodmap
~/.Xmodmap for making it work.
Anyone know about this? Now I'm using the 11.0, and it's fine in 10.3.

yes, why are you trying to compile mod_rewrite ? you just need to enable it
# a2enmod rewrite
# rcapache2 restart
Cheers.

In OpenSUSE 10.3, I could scan for available WiFi networks and then
select one to connect to. This function appears to be missing (broken?)
in 11.0. How do I scan for networks in OpenSUSE 11.0?

I've been trying to install OpenSUSE 11.0 on my ThinkPad R31 model
2656-6FU and have noticed it frequently locks up solid, requiring a
power down to reboot. Has anyone else experienced this? This computer
worked fine 10.3 and earlier versions.

Sorry, I am still struggling with my GNOME what was damaged after an
update on Friday. I get the error message in German, the corresponding
English message is in this thread:
http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-bugs/2007-05/msg01270.html
There was an error starting the GNOME Settings Daemon.
Some things, such as themes, sounds, or background settings may not work
correctly.
The last error message was:
The name org.gnome.SettingsDaemon was not provided by any .service files
GNOME will still try to restart the Settings Daemon next time you log in.
Unfortunately, this thread contains no solution.
Now I am looking for ways to make an update or reinstallation of GNOME -
as far as possible with preservation of my settings. One way should be
to deactivate all repositories except the GNOME repository and to make a
zypper update. (I don't want to make a zypper update for all active
repositories because I am afraid the amount of updates makes changes
what are out of control.) But the first question I cannot answer for
sure is: What is the GNOME repository or what are the GNOME repositories?
I thought it should be simple to make a "zypper info" on some common
packages like gdm, gnome-desktop or gnome-nettools to find out the
corresponding repositories. But none of these packages shows the
repository. The next step would be to find dependent repositories.
Finally I want to make a zypper update.
What are the GNOME repositories containing GNOME of openSUSE 10.3 or how
I can find out these? How can I determine the dependent repositories?
Will a zypper update result in a correctly refreshed GNOME?
Thanks in advance.

Donald,
It appears that I toppost due to the way your messages are seen when I reply. They only give the
header. Top-posting is not the correct way to answer.
At any rate, My kernel is:
Linux 2.6.25.5-1.1-pae #1 SMP 2008-06-07 01:55:22 +0200 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
I installed from a fresh installation as well. I did not upgrade.
You can try one of these.
1. If you did not do a fresh install, go to Yast->Hardware->sound and remove the sound card, exit
and then reinstall the card via Yast (see Rajko's reply for the howto.
2. Do a fresh install and see if that helps.
3. Reboot, but when it asks for boot options type (without the quotation marks) "acpi=off" and see if that
helps, could be some irq issues.
Intel sound cards have always been my nemesis. My soundcard did not work in 10.3.
BTW, I am not an expert by any means, I am just a hobbyist user.
HTH.

Hi,
has anyone found mod_rewrite on openSuSE 11 ?? I seem to be unable to see it... :-/ and I need it for WordPress...
Using apxs2 doesn't help either:
/etc/apache2 # apxs2 -i -a -c mod_rewrite.c
/usr/lib64/apr-1/build/libtool --silent --mode=compile gcc -prefer-pic -O2 -fmessage-length=0 -Wall -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2 -fstack-protector -g -fPIC -Wall -fno-strict-aliasing -DLDAP_DEPRECATED -DLINUX=2 -D_REENTRANT -D_GNU_SOURCE -pthread -I/usr/include/apache2 -I/usr/include/apr-1 -I/usr/include/apr-1 -c -o mod_rewrite.lo mod_rewrite.c && touch mod_rewrite.slo
gcc: mod_rewrite.c: No such file or directory
gcc: no input files
apxs:Error: Command failed with rc=65536
Any hints?
TIA,
Martin
