Incorrect version number on supplementary qt packages?

The qt(4) supplementary packages for 10.1 are: qt-4.1.2-2.i586.rpm qt-devel-4.1.2-2.i586.rpm qt-devel-doc-4.1.2-2.i586.rpm qt-qt3support-4.1.2-2.i586.rpm qt-sql-4.1.2-2.i586.rpm qt-sql-mysql-4.1.3-3.i586.rpm qt-sql-postgresql-4.1.3-3.i586.rpm qt-sql-sqlite-4.1.3-3.i586.rpm qt-sql-unixODBC-4.1.3-3.i586.rpm qt-x11-4.1.2-2.i586.rpm Here only four packages are upgraded to 4.1.3. The others are labeled 4.1.2 (but I have to download/install/check whether they are really 4.1.2 or 4.1.3) -- why is this? Similar state exists in the 10.0 supplementary folder. Please advise as to whether we should wait for the other 4.1.3 packages. I have 10.1 loaded right in front of me. I went to YaST > Hardware > IDE DMA Mode. My DVD/CDRW is loaded and says DMA Mode Yes. I can change it to other settings, DMA Off, DMA On (default), DMA/16, UltraDMA/16, 33, 66, 100, 133. Dear list and all those who'd taken notice of this post in the past; as some of you hopefully remember, I've reported you a bug with YaST2 recognizing both Netgear and D-Link WLAN cards. I've made this report during RC1 phase so please find all the archived informations in the opensuse-factory list (same topic). The thing is that these cards doesn't show up in the list of YaST2's network configuration center. The one LAN connection appears well. Both WLAN cards appear in 9.3! I've taken all the informations YaST2 gave me and entered them in the fields using the add-new-card-button, but the configured interface didn't work. As this seems to be a little bigger problem for me, I'd appreciate if someone can tell me if there's a click of how tu use WLAN either in the new 10.1 system. Martin Schlender (I hope you read this too) I think made a bug report. Why didn't come any changes since RC1? Greets, Thomas PS: There's another hardware problem since 10.1 with my LCD screen. MBR-backup/restore to be added to yast + recovery utilities

Recently the MBR of my principle disk was destroyed. (I think by growisofs, but everyone I know thinks this is impossible. Yet, I was working with growisofs just before the MBR was destroyed) I had written a copy of the MBR to a different disk (I think by šdd if=/dev/hda of=/somedirectory/buMBR count=1š), and restored it again with the dd command. Shortly after Yast complained that the MBR was improperly formatted,and that it should have been written by šcanŽt rememberš My question/proposal: could/should an MBR-backup be added to yast, and could/should a restore feature be added to the recovery-utilities? Think this is a miss in SuSE, and that adding it would be great. (Unless I am mistaken, and it exists already. SUSE 10.1 DVD (c/w non-oss) and Xine DVD Player

Hi all, I installed the houghi makeSUSEdvd script produced DVD from the 10.1 CD ISO's, with the non-oss add-onn cd successfully. THANX houghi! Great work. Now I want to play a Bob Dylan Video DVD (all regional codes) with Xine. I installed libdvdcss.rpm from rpm.pbone.net (http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3/stat/4/idpl/2234135/com/libdvdcss2-1.2.8-0.…) When starting Xine, it checks for the installed plugins and finds libdvdcss. Now it complains about the non-existence of a 'demuxer'. After a new start of Xine, this message disappeared, and now in the Xine log viewer it says: xine: found demuxer plugin: Multiple-image Network Graphics demux plugin xine: found input plugin : file input plugin xine: cannot find input plugin for MRL [dvd:/] xine: input plugin cannot open MRL [dvd:/] xine: found input plugin : DVD Navigator video_out: throwing away image with pts 52123 because it's too old (diff : 25855) .... (Darn, where does xine write it's log files? Not in ~/.xine or /var/log/. I can't copy the logs from xine's "xine log viewer" either) It lists a lot of plugins, but no MRL. What now? :-/ Al

vpn solution for suse

Hi, I am running suse 10 and I am looking for a good vpn solution. What I want to do, is to run suse at home with a vpn client, and then remotely connect (remote desktop) to my computer at the office (also running suse). I wonder if someone has good experience with this? Thanks in advance, Rohnny

Hi. I installed ok the smart on my 10.0 box. Did it by aid of Yast, and now it tells me, that "Configuration is only readmode" . Why that ? /Erik

nVidia driver on SUSE 10.1

I'm using the latest kernel, 2.6.16.13-4 and have an AMD64 x2 board. The graphics card is a GF 7600 GT, and whenever I run the X11 on the smp kernel the nvidia driver dies and leaves a white, non usable window. The driver runs well with the non-smp kernel version. Has anyone run into this problem? any solutions?

inetd/xinetd/standalone

I found the following statement at ISPconfig.org, and am not sure I understand what I'm being told: They say that the ISPconfig service supports "vsftpd as inetd/xinetd/standalone version". I assume "standalone" means, "launched manually" and not as part of the bootup sequence, or something like that? Are not inetd and xinetd just ways to configure services to run? How are they different than the runlevel schemes with script in /etc/inet.d? Peter

Setting up dual screen in suse 10.1

Hi, I wonder if someone has tried to setup dual screen in suse 10.1 ? I have a intel 945G graphics card and two dell e196fp monitors. I want to use them in "twin" mode - as one big screen. I tried sax2 without success. I can activate dual head mode, but cannot configure it (everything is gray). Thanks in advance, Rohnny
