Evolution & palm won't talk

I've found out a bit more about my problem syncing my palm with Evolution on Suse 10.1. It's something to do with Evolution, not the host OS, or the palm. I know this because I came across 'pilot-xfer' and that works just fine. I hit sync, run 'pilot-xfer -L' and I get the beeps, and a long list of all the databases in the palm. But Evolution still doesn't take any notice of the attempt to sync. Am I missing something as trivial as a button on Evolution to make it start a sync? I don't see one, so I'm expecting that it will notice the /dev/pilot link pop into existence and start the transfer. Perhaps that's not how it's meant to work. I should point out, I'm totally new to Evolution, I was using a KDE tool previously. Any thoughts? TIA, Simon "You can tell whether a man is clever by his answers. Where's the Wiki, or the FAQ?

If there's one thing that makes this list different from most mailing lists, it's the absence complete help links at the bottom of each list post. Right now down there there are what looks like 3 links, but two are email addresses, and #3 is just a link to the mailing list archive. Those are all well and good, but there needs to be at least one http:// address for a FAQ or somewhere else to get started from, as the mailing list archive ain't it, unless the goal is to get ever subscriber to post here first and look for a FAQ later. I installed 10.0 from the box DVD. I would have thought this type of KDE install would automatically give me access to common standard file types. I was obviously assuming to much. I got an installation instruction CD for fixing my printer. On it is one mpg file. When I tried to open it with Kaffeine, it crashed. When I tried to open it with Konq, it tells me no plugin found to handle this resource, xine couldn't find demux. I opened YAST software management, and the list of plugins is a mile long. I also searched there for demux, and found 2 gstreamers and 1 ogmtools, but nothing that has anything obvious to do with Konq. DNS & DHCP - am I missing something?

I have a server with fixed IP address which hosts my domain's DNS and provides, by DHCP, IP addresses for each of the workstations and laptop computers on my network. DNS happily resolves the server name from all computers. (it's fixed and listed in the DNS configuration files) However, I am unable to resolve, say, a workstation from a laptop other than by finding out their respective IP addresses. Have I overlooked a parameter to allow the dynamically-allocated IPs to be resolved by my name server or is there more to it than that? TIA John

permanent smb mounts

I am trying to make a permanent smb mount point for a (non browsable) Windows share in 10.1, this used to be easy with Lineighbourhood, but I cannot see how to do it with the new 10.1 "personal settings" samba bits. Do I have to resort to hacking /etc/fstab? MCP55 Sound Card.+Suse 10.1

I have a MSI K9N Neo motherboard with Athelo 64 dual core processor running smp kernel 2.6.16-25. I upgraded the Alsa programs to 1.0.13. Searched the internet and tried everything I found there, But still have problem installing Sound card with Yast. I get the following error: An error occurred during the installation of MCP55 High Definition Audio. The kernel module snd-hda-intel for sound support could not be loaded. This can be caused by incorrect module parameter, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters. Opening the Hardware, Sound, it shows two cards, A8V Deluxe Motherboard (Realtek ALC850 codec) This is the previous motherboard that was working, but I cannot delete this one. Not configured MCP55 High Definition Audio, which I have not been able to edit and install.
