Auto switching network adaptor

Hi, My Laptop (Suse 10.1) has 2 NIC's, 1 ethernet and the other wireless. If I'm sat in the office I'll use eth0 (wired) with DHCP. But if I need to go down into the server room I use wireless via eth1. The wired and wireless networks are on the same VLAN but there isn't a transmitter I can use from the office so have to use 1 or the other. The problem I have is that the OS doesn't know to switch, both get an IP address but won't switch the routing from eth0 to eth1 (or vice versa). So I have to manually shut down the adaptor I'm not using and restart the other which is a little annoying as my fellow co-workers using the same laptops but with Windows don't have this problem as it knows to use what ever network is available? I also use it at home on wireless, it would be nice to be able to configure the machine so that I could use it at anywhere without having to constantly reconfigure the network settings. Is this possible under Linux? If so how? Regards Matthew

Linux software equivalents table

Hi everybody. Trial to create installation source

I upgraded from SuSE 10.0 to SUSE Linux 10.1 and lost in doing so shlibs5 which I need for running my good old WordPerfect8 for Linux. I got that shlibs5 in 10.0 from my Linux 8.1 DVD. In 10.1 Yast refuses to create an installation source for that DVD. In 10.1 Yast can't configure a CDROM anymore. When I try to mount that DVD I get the message 'Can't find /media/dvd/ in fstab'. As 'su' I tried to change fstab with Open Office. It failed. Which angel gives me right inspiration? André den Oudsten

recommend a SSL sertificate issuer for our website?

I don't like the way go daddy boast in the news, moving to Windows is more likely a strategic plan to affect stat percentage of Windows being used as web server by including parked domains. Now our go daddy SSL certificate is expiring (no surprising we choose go daddy the first time: because they made more advertisements), I wish to take this chance to use another certificate issuer. We need cheap Intranet level certificate, from a certificate issuer that is more Linux-friendly. Which certificate issuer Linux admins prefer? For me not necessarily a USA company. Firefox stuff

hi folks, Well, Firefox news aint the greatest today... 30 vulnerabilities in javascript alone... seems that just a small javascript fragment can create a stack overflow and allow a root package to be dropped ... rats... Common Mozilla, you're killing us here.... They're calling it the next Internet Explorer ... :-( I do have a question... for some reason not due to anything I selected the "check for updates" help menu item is greyed out on Firefox... I am running 1.5.0.6 on Suse 10.0. The option for selecting updates is also greyed out... anyone seen this... maybe I've already been hacked... Thanks -- Kind regards, M Harris <><
