Hi all After initial problems, I thought I had VNC up and running to control my Suse 9.2 machine from a Windows box elsewhere in the house using Java in my browser. I can open a session and use the mouse, but now I find out the keyboard doesn't work at all. Is this a common problem? regards Martin

poweredge does not boot from cd

I have a running system (SuSE8.1) on a Dell poweredge 500sc. This machine's BIOS for whatever reason does not see the cdrom-drive at hdd, making it impossible to boot from CD. I want to boot from the cd, because I want to install 9.2 on this thing. easy way to change network configuraion based on my location???

I have suse 9.2 installed on a Dell laptop. I use the laptop at work and home. Is there an easy way to change the network configuraion when I am at a different location. At work I have a static IP and home I use dhcp with a wireless card. thanks, Dan

I don't think the controller is cheaper than the adaptec, so cost reasons are not viable to choose the LSI controller. LCD Monitors

I would like to upgrade my monitor to an LCD ( TFT ??? ) Monitor, however I'm concerned about spending the money to then discover that it won't work with my suse box.... Are there any considerations that need to be made in choosing an lcd monitor... i.e. what happens if it not in the list of know monitors in YaST ? I also noticed that some monitors say required os are windows / mac ??? aren't monitors os independent ? Lastly, how easy is it to actually swap monitors over in linux, I mean as long as suse knows which graphic card is being used then swapping a monitor should not be a problem ? OT question... I've been told to look for a monitor withe + 1.3 million pixels, but when I look at the specs I don't see such details ??? is this supposed to be something else, like colors maybe ? G. -- devosc

Load Balancing

Heres the goal: Have all LDAP queries (login purposes) go to serverA, serverA will then take that LDAP query and forward it to either serverB, serverC, or serverD based on availability and resource usage of each server. DNS round robin is out of the question. We want true failover, high availibilty. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is LVM a good solution? SLES 8 (2.4.x kernel) Thanks, Ryan

Searching for info file...

Build probably my 50th suse 9.2 machine and I this message keeps coming up "Searching for info file..." and the install stops. I've tried different install DVD's, install CD's, no luck I've tried different hard drives, memory, cables....no luck I'm about ready to rip all the cards out. Do you think this could be a hardware problem?

X eats up to 60% of my CPU

But sometimes I think X11 is really to "heavy" For example today it is using 60% of my CPU and I do not know why....
