Hello SuSE folkz, Could somebody please recommend an Open Source WYSIWYG HTML/XML Editor which would have all or some of the following functionalities, listed in the order of importance: 1. Uses primarely CSS for page layouts 2. True page layout representation 3. Support for Perl scripting 4. Does not use any proprietary or non-standard tags Thanks in advance for any information Alex

Suse 9.2 mini install ISO - How to use FTP install with DSL

I downloaded the Suse 9.2 mini install ISO. I have a DSL connection. In order for me to do an FTP install, I need to establish ( log in ) to my DSL provider, so that I can then select the FTP option to do the install. Is this possible? Can I manually make my DSL connection after booting from the ISO CD ?

Just for the record and FYI - I found the cause of at least one major problem, and possibly more. SuSE 9.1 ships with the BerkeleyDB built incorrectly! As shipped, It will only support DB_PRIVATE operations, which causes problems with amavisd and possibly nmdb and postfix. You need to recompile BDB 4.2.52 (that version specifically, unless you also want to recompile nmdb and postfix) with --enable-cxx and NOT --enable-posixmutexes. You may also need to recompile perl-BerkeleyDB. I've no idea is other distros also suffer from the same problem. Try 'db_stat -c -h /path-to/a-database' and if it errors out with "BerkeleyDB is compiled to only support LD_PRIVATE operations' - you have a problem. Mike- -- Mornings: Evolution in action. SuSE freezes after KDE login.

Hi all. I have a strange problem with my SuSE 9.0 box. The problem happens now and then: When I log on as a user at the KDE login prompt, the login dialog box disappears and the system COMPLETELY freezes. All the services STOP and I can't get in contact with it, so the only thing I can do is power it off manually and reboot the machine which I don't like doing! This doesn't happen everytime, but I have noticed that it happens after I have done the following: 1) the machine boots into runlevel 3 2) I issue a "telinit 5", log in to the GUI 3) After some time I issue a "telinit 3" command and the machine goes to runlevel 3 (I switch the GUI off to free up RAM usage) 4) Wanting to use the GUI again I issue a "telinit 5", the login dialog box appears, I log in as a user and the machine completely freezes - everything stops. I use the computer as a webserver. When I work on the server I usually issue commands via WEBMIN. Does anyone have any idea what I can do to fix the problem? Regards, Dan

Any solution to Asus K8V NIC problem?

Hi: Suse 9.1 Oddly, for about 6 months, my networking worked rather well, I mean, it seemed normally fast. Now suddenly it is very slow. Pinging works, but after a minute wait. Loading a web page works, but after a minute pause. Some Googling led me to discover that the 88E8001 LAN chip on this mobo (I have the Asus K8V SE Deluxe) is known to have a problem with Linux. See the junk from my logs below. Just wondering if there is a fix for this, or if I will be buying a NIC tomorrow so I don't have to deal with this silliness anymore? Susefirewall 2

Hi I wasted a lot time trying to understand how the Susefirewall works but i still having one problem that i need to solve with some help of someone. I made the server responding ports 22 53 80 with the subnet having access to internet through masquerading. ok but now i need the port 22 go to other server in my subnet 192.168.0.2 i had tried to use FW_FORWARD_MASQ= "0/0,192.168.0.2,tcp,22" and "200.174.40.130/26,192.168.0.2,tcp,22" but in this way it doesnt work. What is wrong? if it works out fine i will try to put the mailserver into the subnet is it possible too? thanks for all Joni Hoppen

I don't know about link level logins. The only thing I could suggest would be to get a cheep router. This is beneficial for several reasons ( I suggest this to everyone with broadband, even if they only have one computer) 1.) Do MAC cloning and setup you authentication once, and you don't have to ever worry about it again. You can add wireless AP, guest computers, appliances, etc. whenever you want and never have to worry about setup. 2.) Have a hardware firewall. Strange errors running rsync over NFS

HI all! I have a bit of a funny problem: I have a SuSE 9.0 box that I use to host a few websites / domains - the machine is also setup as a NFS server. I have another SuSE 9.0 box that is just a redundant machine with a copy of the webserver htdocs, just in case the main server dies on me, hence it's my BACKUP server.The BACKUP server is a NFS client of the main server. I have mounted the main server's /srv directory to /mainserver/srv on the backup server. When I do a rsync -vza /mainserver/srv / --delete I get a some rather strange errors, this one: readlink "/mainserver/srv/www/htdocs/www.mydomain.com/htdocs/webbutik/admin/images/CVS/Entries" failed: Permission denied I didn't need the file that was creating errors, so I removed it but I still get the above error, even thought the file no longer exists on the server! I also get a heaps of errors like this one: send_files failed to open "/mainserver/srv/www/htdocs/www.mydomain.com/htdocs/webbutik/catalog/images/2894": Permission denied Any suggestions?
