Awhile back I posted this problem; I was able to print the cups printer test pages from YaST2 and KControlCenter but if I tried printing from kwrite or kmail a new process would start that used all available cpu time. the process was (all on one line in kpm) gs -dBATCH -dSAFER -dQUIET -dNOPAUSE --r300x300 -sDEVICE-cdj550 -dBitsPerPixel=3 -sOutputFile=|cat >&3 - After a couple of re-installs I think I tracked the problem down. If I'm right then I can't believe nobody else on the list has had this problem. I think there may be a buggy interaction between ghostscript and the anti-alias fonts setting in KDE. If I set Anti-Aliasing to "on" in KDE then I can't print from kwrite or kmail ( I get the cpu hog gs process). If I turn Anti-Aliasing "off" and restart the x server then printing works as expected. Can someone verify this behavior or disprove it on their machine? I use SuSE7.2 pro w/ the must recent kde (2.2.2) & x-free86 (4.2) files from suse thanks dave

Newbie question w. reg. to ISDN on laptop w. no understanding of German

Dear all, I'm running 7.3 prof on a Fujitsu Siemens E-series Lifebook (PIII 500, 128 Mb). I connect to the network of my company using a Xircom CBEM56 PCMCIA card. It is about this card I have a question. I initially bought this card when I was still in my W$ days because of its combination of 4 possible ways for accessing networks: 1. 10/100 network 2. 56K dial-up "regular" phoneline 3. 9600 baud dial-up for GSM (located in the Netherlands, much on the road) 4. ISDN Although I presume technology-wise these aren't 4 distinct functions, I am curious if ISDN dial-up would need additional set-up in Suse? I have searched Google (tho no expert in doing that), checked the Suse site, manuals and FAQ's, several sites about pcmcia and so on. Until now I only discovered a mailinglist specifically about PCMCIA, but that one is in German which isn't my best language (I can read it, but writing is a different cup of tea). It could very well be I overread something, coz I digested quite a lot of material before typing this ;-). Of course I could just try it, but since I'm quite new 2 the arena I guess I'm just 2 chicken to break something in my currently flawlessly operating set-up. FTR: Xircom card has installed well, is functioning on both 56K dial-up and 10/100 networking (no tweaking needed). Check in your /home/username directory. You can also try to do this: 'startx -- logverbose 5 -logverbose 5' to get a more verbose log file with Nvidia X driver outputs. You can try to install the 1541 driver tar.gz files. They should be pretty stable. Uninstall the 2314 drivers first. Yea, it is my fault as I **ASSUMED** that SuSE would default to reiserfs. I know that I cannot just change my fs on the fly to reiser without deleting all of my files. I know that ext3 can do this without deleting the files on my drive. I just need to know if ext3 is compiled in to the 2.4.16upgrade kernel or is it a module. And, if so, do I need any extra programs to do the converting? Thanks! Hi, 'lspci -V' is no problem as is '/proc/nv/card0'. But where do i find .X.err? As starting X is flawless (at least noting to worry about in the /var/log/XFree86.0.log) i do not believe an error log is created.
