[SLE] RE: Install of 7.3 and Maxtor IDE cards

Robert, I also have one of the Maxtor ATA 100 PCI cards. I don't have any serious problems with it. SuSE picks right up on it and calls the partitions on it hdeX. I might suggest moving the card to another PCI slot. I had trouble with the card conflicting with my sound card during OS installation (though the BIOS recognized the hard drive just fine). Moved it to the last slot on the board farthest from the AGP slot, using an Epox 8KTA+ MoBo. -Chris I am trying to install 7.3 on a 20 GB drive in a Dell Optiplex XM590. This system only recoginzes 8 GB of the drive with its build-in IDE controllers so I installed a Maxtor Ultra ATA/100 PCI IDE controller and turned off the internal controllers. The BIOS on the controller card recognizes the Hard drive and CD/Rom drive. However, the SuSE install program finds neither the CD/ROM or hard drive. Did not find anything in the SuSE Support DB. Hi Rick, For what it's worth, I have a Dell Latitude CPi, a blazing 233 MHz model with the CS423x sound chip. OSS didn't work for me. (apache) how to put username & passwd on dir.

Hi: Ive already created a .htaccess file with htpasswd... but still cant get apache to ask me for user and passwd when I open the directory where I created the .htaccess file from a web browser.... what am I missing?? Thanks, Raul

Skip, I have it working using the latest 2.4.16 from the ftp.suse.com site. I did run kernel-source rpm, make mrproper, make cloneconfig, make menu- config (from Volker's HowTO for 2.04) and make dep. Then ran vmware- config.pl. Worked like a charm. I ran into trouble only when I tried to use the complete HOWTO for 2.04, so only did the above portion. This is also just using only SuSE compiled kernel. Regards, Keith B.
