===== 1. How many hard drives do you have and what sizes are they?
One (1) hard drive 4G
2. Do you have an operating system already installed and do you want to keep it?
No other OS. Suse will be the only OS on the drive. So far I understand best to partition at least /home. I would be grateful to hear you opinion of best partiton and file system config and part. sizes. Thanks, Lee :
1st time Suse user. Using 6.4. and yast text-based. This is going to be real newbie:

Hi, My choice would be: - /boot, small, about 16 MB should be enough, as ext2 - /swap, depending on how much RAM you have, about 256 MB, as swap. - rest will be / as reiserfs. If you do an update, you would then either have to go through the update process, which some folks are afraid of, or backup your $HOME and make a clean install - rebuilding your $HOME from the backup. If you put /home on a seperate partition, then keep in mind that this HD space is not available for programs, only for your data, and if you only got 4GB ... I wouldn't. You would have to set /home as comparatively small partition, and then you would have to remove stuff from the HD all the time in order to save disk space. However, it's your choice. And before starting this adventure, GET YOURSELF A current version of SuSE, don't start with 6.4, you will eventually run into issues no longer worth messing around with'em. On the other hand you would soon be about to update then, ... see above. Cheers ...
