Has anyone heard of having to create a seperate partition for APM to work on Dell laptops? I was told that this little slice had to be created so that Linux could write info to it when it hybernated. well i think i figured out the sending now working on the receiving... am i force to have his mail first come to my server and then i locally deliver it????? via a procmail file???? I'm trying to send an email from a mail client (outlook express) running on NT 2000 via a linux box running sendmail. Everytime i try i get the ff message from sendmail: The message could not be sent because the server rejected the sender's e-mail address. The sender's e-mail address was ' <mailto:'daProwler(a)blueyonder.co.uk'> duff(a)duff.com' <mailto:'daProwler(a)blueyonder.co.uk'> . Subject 'Anime - Thundersub', Account: '192.168.50.1', Server: '192.168.50.1', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '451 4.1.8 <duff(a)duff.com>... Domain of sender address duff(a)duff.com does not resolve', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 451, Error Number: 0x800CCC78 I can 'receive' email but cannot send. I seem to recall reading something about setting the dns of the NT machine but i;m not sure what or why. I've checked the sendmail site but that's cryptic as it usually is. Anyway i believe the problem is on the NT side of things. Clifford

partition/install help

1st time Suse user. Using 6.4. and yast text-based. This is going to be real newbie: The terminology re: partitions and slices gets a bit tough for me between MS, FreeBSD and Linux. 1.I want to have separate mnt pts. for /,/usr/var ect.., the default install makes one big root, a boot, and swap partition. For say a /, /var, /usr, swap is the procedure to make separate partitions before hand and make these partitons the size I want them to be? WHat I'm asking is: are the mount points for these file systems called "partitons" in the SUse terminology? Y or N? In that case I'll "partition-up" my disk as required. 2.Suse finds hdb1 as a partition. My HD is the only device on my primary ide cable - thought it would be hda1(?) 3. should I make a separate /boot partiton? Things seemed to work ok w/out it in the past, but it seems recommended. Why/why not? If I make /boot assume Suse install will "see it" and put appropiate files into it? Is it a good place for lilo? 4. what's the deal with a /opt partiton? Never heard of this before. Is it only for kde users? 5. heard a vague referece to: create a link /tmp -> var/tmp any advantages to this scheme? do I need a /tmp partition? I think it usually resides in /var. 6. so getting back to ques 1. I create separate partitions of the size I deem necessary for each file system I want a separate partition/mount pt. for. The I assume futher o0n in the yast program I'll get a change to cite the file systems I want per each aprtiton. right? Now the order cited in the "list" I'll of each file system is important(?). I want root, the swap what's the standard order? any links to example configs. appreciated Thanks

SuSE 7.3 Sendmail + Cyrus IMAPD

Dear All, I have some problem in generate sendmail.cf with Cyrus. now, I install sendmail and cyrus-imapd RPM from SuSE 7.3 packages, but when I start Cyrus IMAPD, it's cannot receive email in it store path. I think it may sendmail mail direct problem, so I find the cf file in /usr/share/sendmail/ and want to generate a new sendmail.cf file. but I don't know how to do the next step, anybody can help me ? :-) many thanks! -- Jack Liu <cyl1012(a)mail2000.com.tw>

Odd-ball problem....

This one's a "new one" for me. First, the stats are: SuSE 7.3, and a Lexmark Z52 printer.....their driver, and a NEW install of 7.3. I don't know "where" the libslang.so.1 lib. comes "from," that is, I did a search on via Yast2 and there isn't any such lib. Yet, the Lexmark Z52 insists on it! Now, this ISN'T for my box here, where I have that lib., but another where I've "dropped" the lib. into the correct dir, which is /usr/lib. The Lexmark Z52 install won't see the lib. Anyone have a fix for this one? Hello Herman, I install vanilla 7.3 on clean HD with official 7.3 CDs. I'll try to remount. But it seems I have to do this extra procedure everytime after a vanilla 7.3 installation. Hello ML! all bigger file transactions fail with my scsi devices on my suse 7.1 system (kernel 2.4.10). After a while the device stops copying. Then the scsibus gets reseted. A few minutes later the copying starts again for a moment and stopps then - until next reboot. At this point most scripts like halt or shutdown.
