black91:~ # dmesg | grep eiser reiserfs: using 3.5.x disk format ReiserFS version 3.6.25
See the FAQ section on http://www.namesys.com. Briefly, the file size limit for 3.5 is 4 GiB, and for 3.6 17592 GiB. Also, see the question 11: Will it be possible to read/write ReiserFS partitions created now with future versions of ReiserFS? Yes. ReiserFS-3.6.x (Linux-2.4.x) works with both the old (3.5) and the new (3.6) formats. ReiserFS-3.5.x (Linux-2.2.x) can only work with the old (3.5) disk-format. There is no way to convert the new (3.6) disk-format to the old (3.5), but the old (3.5) format could be converted to the new one (3.6) with the "-o conv" mount option. -- Alexandr.Malusek@imv.liu.se
Hello Alexandr, This is very weird. I am using ReiserFS 3.5 with resiserfstool 3.6 and raidtool2. The file size limit is 2GB. According to the FAQ, the file size limit on 3.5 should be 4GB. :-(

use mkreiserfs -v 2 /dev/sdaxx (or /dev/hdaxx) SuSE defaults to ver1 for 2.2
support. ver2 has Large File System support.
