Is there a simple way to get UCD-SNMP to recognize the vmnet1 interface and report it's statistics. "ifconfig vmnet1" looks the same as "ifconfig eth0" so it looks possible. TIA, Jeffrey -- I don't do Windows and I don't come to work before nine. -- Johnny Paycheck

Could it also be that the onboard sensors reports to high values both for the CPU and motherboard? You have the proper access...."mirrors" and the main site. $70 for a box doesn't even pay for 1/2 the stuff SuSE gives to the public (Linux Community)...or else they wouldn't need to raise funding as they did a month or so ago..they would just have coffers the size of public companies that do not contribute as much. For me, when I had a dedicated IP on dsl, the default did "The Right Thing", which is what MTA's usually want to do, I believe. That is, be the default mail handler for a given domain. Then I lost that, and had to work through my other ISP (earthlink). I found a very helpful HOWTO at RHAT, on various Postfix configurations. Note, however, that in order to get the envelope correct for ezelm (sp?) lists such as this one, I had to cut back on the recommendations to just do the masquerade and relay-host bits. Some probs fixed w/2.4.10 install, others remain!

I followed some advice to get my sys functioning better after installing and configuring the 2.4.10 kernel. However, when booting it "always" says that /dev/hdb3 (root partition) was not unmounted cleanly. It runs fsck "everytime", but of course it finds no files/inodes to fix (though it usually says it was something like 1.6% nocontigious). Also when at the end of the boot cycle, where it states setting up snd to previous config (or something like that) it states the the snd.o and about 5 other sound mods have unresolved issues. However, in KDE the sound works for all things, such as xmms, games, sound preview in konq, etc... And, when I run lsmod it shows that all the desired mods are loaded and running (and a few that I don't really need - but apparently cause no obvious problems). But when I run "depmod -a" I get a post of a long list of mods with "unresolved symbols". I had to re-install the "susewm" mod to get KDE working and I suspect I might have to reinstall a few other packages to rectify these problems. Anybody that can give me some advice or a "heads up" about this? TIA, Curtis

XFree86 and KDE2

Just an FYI. I just updated XFree86 to the 10/01/01 release on SuSE's ftp server and it fixed the swap issue...weird. It was a combo of X+KDE2+Mozilla. I've had a freshly cleaned out swapspace available for 30 minutes now and it's not touching it. Guess there was a mem leak.
