Hello mates, have not found an english speaking ISDN list, so I ask it all here. I got a PCMCIA ISDN card, it accepts my commands via ttyI0 When trying to dial out, in fact I am trying to get Internet to work using PCMCIA ISDN, wvdial as well as minicom both report the destination number to be BUSY, although it is not. In fact, it CANNOT be. I set my MSN using AT&F&Exxxxx and dial using ATDT0+number because I have a PABX here. wvdialconf does not detect the pcmcia bus, so I added it all by hand to wvdial.conf. Executing wvdial runs AT&F and the AT&E setting and even dials. But after say 20 secs it quits with "The line is busy" and tries again. isdn start /dev/ttyI0 also reports all clean on ippp0, even the EAZ(my MSN) is activated and set to hdlc transparent What am I doing wrong? What details do you need to estimate where the problem is? I am standing in front of a closed door somehow and have now spent another hour on reading the isp howto (edited me 3 ppp-connect scripts, but of course those cannot work, when pcmcia does not dial correctly...). Starting kimon under X results in "error while starting /sbin/isdnctrl" although that program works fine. Strange K-mail freezes

Hi We have experienced strange k-mail freeze-ups. XFree86 and KDE is the latest downloaded 2-3 weeks ago. Base system is SuSE 7.2 What we have found, is that sometimes when there is few programs open (k-mail, staroffice, kwintv and konqueror in different desktops), and then we open a PDF with acrobat, then close the pdf and acrobat, k-mail has frozen, and has to be killed. We did try today to really push the acrobat / k-mail, but we could not crash it in any way.. Had tenths of program open, drag kwintv all over the place, and did all weird stuff that we can imagine, but no.. it worked fine. Does anyone know any problem that could relate to this one? Jaska.

Is it a fresh 7.3 install, or an upgrade? I had this problem on 7.2 and then discovered that the /etc/XF86Config I was using, that I had carefully preserved across multiple upgrades, no longer contained a font list that matched what I had on the system. I saved it, and then used sax (sax2 if you're using XFree86 4.x) to generate a new XF86Config. I wasn't totally happy with the new one and ended up creating a hybrid of the two, but once I had all the fonts declared properly all my unreadable fonts suddenly became readable again :-) John On Tuesday 30 October 2001 2:45 pm, you wrote: > I agree. I'll look at my notes. >From memory so I could be wrong I was running a machine that receives internet email, so I only changed the postfix set-up once the IMAP server was running and I could connect in via kmail. imtest lets you check that the imap server is running I set a password for the cyrus user and started cyrus by using '/etc/init.d/cyrus start'. Howto compile kde ( 7.3 ) see notice in "Whats New"

If you try and compile kde w. 7.3 you get an error I noticed in the Whats New Section some comment about this and the need to get some files from kde/admin or something. Now I cant find the reference. Does anyone know how to get this working thanks dids

Alps MD5000 Printer - Suse GS Bug

This appears to be a bug in the Suse version of Ghostscript, or in the Alps driver in gs_lib. And since compiling regular Ghostscript with the Alps driver doesn't work, and the Mandrake Ghostscript doesn't work, there must also be a problem elsewhere is Suse. Suse GS developer, are you listening? You have my allegance, but I can't make this beautiful printer work. ================================== I've been working to install this for 8 full weekends in a row, and I'm about at the end of my rope. The MD5000 is a major advance over the inkjets, and I can move entirely to Linux if I can install it. Running Suse7.2. Tried LPD, but the Alps driver must be compiled into Ghostscript. I actually managed to compile the Japanese guy's driver into GS5.5, and then 7 in turn, and in each case gs -h shows the md5k and md2k. There's NOTHING in the newsgroups. The only other device in contribs.mak that has $(gsparam_h) and shows the *same*error* as md5k & md2k is cdeskjet. Many other printers fail with 'failed get', but the common ones work fine.. Switched to Cups using Yast2. (usually a good idea to use Yast in Suse - why I haven't tried Kups) It installs its own Ghostscript, and you can add drivers (to Cups?), including the Alps. Cups recognises the printer hardware and I go through the install wizard. But on Print Test Page, "lpr: unable to print file: the requested resource is currently unavailable on this server". (cups daemon *is* running) I assign an Epson driver to it, and the Alps starts to print, although messed up. I add the Alps using the Cupsd XML interface and it seems to add fine. But I print a test page and it zooms into the bitbucket. Not in Jobs, no sign of it, no log. Cups seems to come with the driver for the Alps as it shows with the other added drivers.. I think there are two drivers for the front end. So is the backend driver missing? Is the .ppd messed up? I understand Cups has a small version of Ghostscript. Do I need to compile the Alps driver into that as well? Looks like it. If so I must get that working first, but how? I've read Admin/User's/Install guides twice, all the readme's, swept linuxprinting.org and Google, and no luck. I'm told the Alps works in Mandrake, and Mandrake tells me their GS binaries work in Suse without recompile. Recall, before I was patching the GS source (both 5.5 & 7.0) with a driver written in 1998 by a Japanese guy. Here there's *no*change* in behaviour. Can you advise? The Cups listserv is not able to help further.

Sendmail denies relay

Hi all (Good Morning here in South America...well ...9:30 a.m. actually :-) Every once in a while sendmail just goes crazy and denies relaying for a random host in our intranet. I have checked /etc/rc.config.d/sendmail.rc.config to see if all the settings are correct and they seem to be fine. Sendmail version is : 8.11.2-4 (rpm from SuSE CDs 7.1) I also edited /etc/mail/access and then: makemap hash /etc/mail/access < /etc/mail/access I added: 10.0 OK No results as well. Although I shouldn't be able to reinstall anything on this server until december I already have plans to move to Qmail. Thanks for everything, Best wishes, Raúl
