How to delete files on rewriteble CD?

Hello SuSE folks! I stuck with the problem how to delete files on rewriteble CD. I used xcdroast for this CD recording. I couldn't find an option which allows to delete recorded files on rewriteble CD. Could somebody give me a hand how to solve this problem. Thanks in advance. Alex

I d/loaded whatfor-0.3.01.tar.gz, followed the instructions, and watched the messages. I had to make a sub- directory it said was missing, & when it ran it again it installed beautifully. Sense of achievement! I must say that whatfor is a really fine piece of work for a newbie to find out a bit about what all these 100s of files in the system, with names that don't mean a thing, are there for. Sendmail connection errors

Using Sendmail 8.9.3, I keep getting lots of these sorts of messages: Jul 24 00:46:57 server sendmail[32297]: AAA32297: collect: premature EOM: Connec tion reset by fepa.mail.ozemail.net Jul 23 16:37:19 server sendmail[30719]: QAA30719: SYSERR(root): collect: I/O err or on connection from fep7.mail.ozemail.net, from=<abc(a)abc.com>: Connection reset by fep7.mail.ozemail.net It only seems to happen with some servers. Does anyone know if I have something configured incorrectly? Off topic. . .but need help

Does anyone out there know if you can change the sensitivity of an older UPS? I have an older APC Back-UPS 520 (maybe 4 or 5 years old) and it is working, but it isn't swiching fast enough so my system crashes whenever the power goes out. EtherExpress problem

I'm installing SuSE 6.1 on a professor's machine at my university and have hit a problem. The pc is a P133 with an EtherExpressPro/10 pnp ethernet card. During installation I selected "EtherExpressPro" and configured all the networking options. On reboot, the machine hung when it tried to initialize the card. A hard-reboot was required. I still could not start the system; it hung at the same spot every time. I went ahead and re-installed without the network, and the rest of the distribution is working fine. I checked the SuSE hardware DB, and it states that the card is "probably supported". I also checked recent mailing list postings, but didn't find anything helpful. Can anyone offer suggestions on getting this card to work? Thanks, Alan Riggins

thrashing

I'm running SuSE 6.0 Kernel 2.2.7 on a pentium III 500mhz with 128 megs RAM. I have a 128 meg swap file. My question is that sometimes even with even only one terminal running, and no intensive processes running, my hard drive will occasionally thrash for a good three minutes at what appears to be random intervals. If I [ps a] it shows me nothing out of the ordinary.(one bash, one ps a, and one mingetty.) any ideas? is this normal?

SQUID proxy server

Hello SuSE folks! Could somebody answer me in what cases we need to use squid proxy server? Should I use it if I have static IP with 24x7 dedicated analog connection. I'm not running currenly any CGI scripts or an active web site context. And also should I use squid server if I get an xDSL connection with static IP? Many thanks for any responses Alex
