Hi All - Thanks to those who tossed some good ideas my way regarding Zip drives & installation thereof. There are a whole new set of problems now. 1) My floppy won't work. /etc/fstab reads properly, but i get an error message that /dev/fd0 is not a valid block device. (It was at one time). 2) The zip drive is not sda4, nor hdd4, nor anything at all...yet. 3) I have all the kernel support for the zipdrive. I'm still getting unresolved symbols at boot-time. 4) I have read the HOW_TO's. All of them. Not that it has done me ANY good. Please - is there *any* other document NOT included in the 6.1 distro that would help? Any suggestions - OTHER than reading the HOW-TO's - would be most welcome. insmod can't find ip_masq_ftp and others

i guess that says just about everything.. have a SuSE 6.1, 2.2.5 with 2 nics and a perm internet connection that ftp's cannot go through from the internal lan 192.168.1.0/24 i have ip_masq_ftp.c in /usr/src/linux-2.2.5.SuSE/net/ipv4/ on booting i get error that insmod cannot locate ip_masq_ftp as well as cuseeme, icq, raudio, ftp and others TIA Ian

2GB File limit

Does anyone have some info regarding how to get around the ~2GB file limit in Linux? I seem to remember that it can be done, but can't remember where I saw that. Also, is it true that ALPHA based Linux (the new SuSE) does not have this limitation? Thanx Jackson jaxsn(a)pdga.com

Hi, I wonder if there is any updated version of sax that will cover voodoo 3 cards. The one from SuSE 6.1 only shown the choice of Banshee and that is. Thanks for all the help regarding to sound !!!!!!! All it took was a kernel recompile with modules and installation of OSS and yes I did buy a license. So long and thanks for all the help!!! Ian

Quick question. I want to run the seti@home <mailto:seti@home> client on my new Linux box but I am unsure of the gnulibc(?) version that SuSE 6.1 is using. If anyone has gotten this to work, please drop me a line.
