Hello, I was wondering if anyone has gotten an IDE CDR/RW to work with Kernel 2.2.10. I read the HOWTO and compiled in scsi emulation etc. but all this did was screw up my system (read the thread "boot problem"). Is there some newer info or any other advice? Thanks, David Bellows

Printer fonts vs screen fonts

One of my major problems with Linux as a desktop is that What You See Is Not What You Get When You Print It (WYSINWYGWYPI)! Unless I have missed something very important, ghostscript doesn't access the same font set as the XServer does. I have installed a TrueType supporting XServer and the screen now looks great, but printing things is a lottery. Ghostscript appears to access it's own fonts and chooses it's best match when a printout is required from an application. If the application is using an unusual font, the printed output looks nothing like the screen. Have I missed something important, or is this the case? If I'm right, is there some sort of system -- either existing or in development -- which will tie up screen fonts with printer fonts (preferably supporting TTFs)?

MS Exchange and Outlook

my weird network...

ok, this is weird, I set up my SuSE box with two nics, 192.168.0.5 and 192.168.0.2, I'm pinging from a 3rd box, if I have the .0.5 nic unplugged from my hub, I can't ping .0.5 OR .0.2, I plug it in, fine on both. But, I can unplug .0.2 and still ping both... I'm so confused... any pointers would be nice. flea

FM radio card

Hi everyone: Using SuSE 6.1 with an Aims RadioTrack FM radio card which I removed from my old NT box. I remember checking support for this during installation but can't remember what the program name is and can't find it in any of the KDE menus. Any of you out there using this card? If so, what is the program for accessing it? is it possible to suspend membership of the list rather than resigning & rejoining ? VMWARE is fine under SuSE. If you've got an AMD cpu don't bother trying to run Win95 as memory errors will occur. Win98 is ok as the architecture is slightly different. NT 4 is fine on Intel & AMD. All you need is some free disk space - enough for the target OS & apps. Something strange just happened today. When I'm looking at my e-mail (this list), some of my emails I get from a pop3-account just doubles. Is this just the problem of this account or this list or the program? Someone can help me? Thx

Bogus Packet
