atalk startup error

Hi, I'm trying to get atalk working to provide macintosh file services for our network, but it does not start up during boot and if I give a command line like: /etc/rc.d/init.d/atalk start the console returns: Starting netatalk:socket: Invalid argument socket: Invalid argument atalkd: can't get interfaces, exiting. failed How can I find out what socket it is trying to use and what/how might I change this to allow the atalk daemon to startup? you need smbmount - there are a number of graphical clients like LinNeighborhood (guess what that mimics). I connect to my NT4 shares fine using this. Don't forget that to access shares you need password/username pairs known by NT etc, and probably encrypted passwords unless you want to hack every Win pc's registry. > -----Original Message----- > From: Teresa D. Printing + Zip

Hello. Surely the problem regarding printers and parallel port zip drives has been discussed before. I also think there's a web at www.torque.net, but I can't remember well. Anyway, I'll ask you the question :-) As I told you in my last message, I use SuSE 5.3, with kernel 2.2.10. I've tried to recompile the kernel so that it supports my parallel zip drive and my printer. I've tried nearly everything (including all the options in the kernel, compiling them as modules...) but nothing works. My printer is a HP 720c. It seems I have configured my "printcap" ok with YaST, but the thing is that it doesn't print. When I try to print sth with the lpr command, and then do "lpq" to see the queue, at the top it says "Waiting for printer (offline?)". Of course my printer is on when I try to print or to see the queue. How can I configure my kernel or whatever so that it works? (if you think it's better to give me the URL I won't have any problems; I'm a bit lost with this subject so any help is very useful). Many of you have noticed that all of the mailing lists at suse.com have changed to using a new mailing list software. We did this for a number of reasons. The new software is significantly easier and both makes administration easier for us and using it easier for you. Many of you have expressed concern about rules you used to use to sort mail now not working anymore because of changes in the Subject: line or other changes in the headers. It is reccomended that you sort mail not by the To:, Cc: or Subject: lines but rather by the X-Mailinglist: line. Every message sent to you by our mailing list software for the suse-linux-e list will contain this line: X-Mailinglist: suse-linux-e We will continue to add this line no matter what software we may use now or in the future.
