[SuSE Linux] workman /dev/mixer failure

Anyone worked around the following error message from workman (I get it when workman aborts upon startup): /dev/mixer: Operation not supported by device /dev/mixer looks like this on this system: crw-rw-rw- 1 root root 14, 0 Apr 15 00:14 /dev/mixer Alternatively, maybe there's another audio CD player software within the suse distrib that will work with no changes. [SuSE Linux] How to retrieve messages from ~user/Maildir

Hello SuSE folks! My question applied to people who installed and use Qmail. I compiled and configured Qmail to receive messages in home/usr/Maildir instead home/usr/Mailbox. When I send test messages to the users I can see these messages in home/usr/Maildir/new with the mc text editor but I can't retrieve them in the users mailboxes via any of client mail programs as Applixware or Netscape. Who knows how to overcome this issue and what I suppose to change in the client mail program setting to retrieve messages from home/usr/Maildir/new. [SuSE Linux] SuSE Linux 6.1 and PPPIOCGUNIT Operation not permitted

Hi I recently upgraded my laptop computer from Slackware 3.4 to SuSE Linux 6.1. I am trying to get SuSE Linux to connect to Demon Internet, but I keep getting errors from `pppd' where it said `operation not permitted' in the file `/var/log/messages'. I have also downloaded latest `pppd' 2.5.8 and it still did not work. Here are the messages: pppd[345]: pppd 2.3.8 started by root, uid 0 pppd[345]: kernel tty_io.c process (345) pppd used obsolete `/dev/cua2' up date software to use `/dev/ttyS2' ... ... pppd[345]: Serial connection established pppd[345]: ioctl(PPPIOCGUNIT): Operation not permitted pppd[345]: tcsetattr: Operation not permitted pppd[345]: Exit I checked everything that I could think of. I made sure that I tried to connect as the superuser. I checked that `/dev/modem' is symbolically linked to `/dev/ttyS2'. I also checked that the access permissions for the program `pppd' and device files were set to `root'. I have no difficulty dialing up to my ISP with my modem, but everytime the connection is completed, the `pppd' collapses. I suspect that has something to do with the second message about the obsolete `/dev/cua2'. I am clueless where to look next. Any help greatly appreciated. Ich habe auch gepruefen, dass Programm `/usr/sbin/pppd' mit dem Setuid-Bit gesetzt war. Das Chat-Software kann sowieso mit meinem ISP ohne Problem einspielen, und eine gute Connection wird immer befestigt, aber das `pppd' Programm stoesste sich immer zusammen. Ich bin verdaechtig, dass es mit der zweiter Boetschaft zu tun, dem den obsoleten /dev/cua2 steht, aber Ich bin jetzt Ahnunglos wonach ich weiter suchen sollte. First off you need a Sound card (Ofcourse :) ) A SoudBlaster 16 would do, but I suggest you look at a newer "better" card. Check postings on this list for suggestions. Other than the sound card, you need a copule of speakers. Make sure they are shielded and for Computer use. Unless ofcourse you want to route your sound to the home stereo! Then Install the card, and make sure the kernel has either modular support for it OR compile a new one with the apropriate drivers. There are some sound howtos in the /usr/doc/howto directory to look at. [SuSE Linux] HELP! I don't want my box to relay!

It's a sendmail thing, but it must be so standard that someone's going to know how to do it surely? I just need my box to reject attempts to post through it (eg: other hosts trying to post mail to other hosts via my host) as a basic and I understand common anti-spam measure. Naturally, I still want this box to be able to receive mail being sent to local user accounts on it, and I want to be able to send mail from those local user accounts. It's a SuSE box, with sendmail.cf currently sitting as written out by YaST, so a very standard configuration. I was able to post from my laptop (behind a masquerading host here) through the remote server - ie: that server being configured here as my SMTP server - to my Hotmail account. How do I stop this and get that "We do not relay" error that I've seen coming from other servers?
