[opensuse] 15.1 LXQt - what camera app/picture viewer

PhotoQT opens to black screen with a very generic looking panel icon, and no discernable way to open any images or camera. LXImage seems too simple, no apparent way to get pix from a Camera. YaST2 doesn't make it too easy to find a Camera app, at least, not a non-GTK-based one. KDE's Digikam requires KF5Contacts, which seems like an address book thingie I shouldn't need to have cluttering this simple installation. Hi, Blender Git Master, including 2.80rc1 and the missing dependency libs OpenSubdiv, openvdb and alembic are available now at my repo: https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/home:frispete:blender Any idea, how do I enable OpenMP with clang properly? An attempt to build for 15.1 failed miserably due to a lot of missing dependencies (TBB, OpenShadingLanguage.... If there is some interest, I may tackle this again. Feedback welcome. [opensuse] leap15.1 - multi-path route not working

(same old story - I am migrating a mail cluster to 15.1 ... this is still the first node, "tattoo16") For alternating output over two routers (we call them "frontends"), we use a multipath route defined like this: ip route add default table fe1fe2 nexthop via 10.0.1.145 nexthop via 10.0.2.145 This has worked fine for more than ten years, new connections alternate between 10.0.1.145 and 10.0.2.145. Now on Leap 15.1 I get no alternation - I always get 10.0.2.145. I have tried it swapping it: ip route add default table fe1fe2 nexthop via 10.0.2.145 nexthop via 10.0.1.145 and then I always get 10.0.1.145. I am still researching it, I wonder if some default setting changed since this was set up in 2006 or 2007. Just in case, this is what the route table looks like: # ip route show table fe1fe2 default nexthop via 10.0.2.145 dev ipip1 weight 1 nexthop via 10.0.1.145 dev ipip0 weight 1 10.0.1.144/30 dev ipip0 scope link src 10.0.1.146 10.0.2.144/30 dev ipip1 scope link src 10.0.2.146 127.0.0.0/8 dev lo scope link I switched back to kernel 3.16.7 and here it works as expected. [opensuse] how do I disable snapper?

Hi, yes, I know. I'm a heretic. How do I disable snapper completely? ...why? I am running 5 systems running Leap 15.0, and one VM running tumbleweed. The tumbleweed VM is the only one actually using BTRFS (and I'll have something to say about that later). So on my actual "production" systems, all I get from snapper are log entries telling me that / is not btrfs - which I just happen to know already. On the TW VM, I just had a "zypper up" die on me with out of disk space - snapper snapshots accounting for over half of the filesystem's space (more than 10G). So here I am thinking "maybe these snapshots are a bad idea on a linux flavor that gets almost completely reinstalled sometimes more than once per week?" (tumbleweed snapshots...) So then I'm thinking "having a pre and a post snapshot after every single update doesn't put much trust in those updates at all". So let me ask again - how can I get rid of snapper? All, Just a check, I'm trying to install packages on 15.0 and after 10 minutes, I'm still waiting for the last 2 package downloads to start. The first one took ages to start and then trickled down at ....[done (83 B/s)] My old 1200 baud modem did better than than with z-modem?? -- David C. All, Another end-of-life has come to pass. 42.3 joins 13.1, 11.4, 11.0 (minus the KDE 4.0.4a mess), 10.3, 10.0, 9.2 Pro, 9.0 Pro, 8.2 Pro, 8.0 Pro, 7.2 Pro, and 7.0 Pro in a long line of good releases. (others will remember earlier, but the (Air) release was my first, Mandy before then and DSL) So now what to do?? 15.0 end-of-life is scheduled for November, 15.1 is scheduled for November 2020, but I would miss trying a zypper dup. So many choices... So is a change of repo versions to 15.0 and a: zypper dup --download-in-advance a good path for now? -- David C. [opensuse] video editing

Yeah, I've looked on the web and found reviews on linux software for video editing, but what do the people here find works easily and glitchless on opensuse? Most important is the ability to cut and move clips. Doing resolves would be nice too, as would throwing text and images on top of existing footage.
