[opensuse] Still can't print to the Epson WP-4530

Hope I have the mailing address correct this time. I used YAST to try and install the Epson inkjet printer/scanner/copier. The system shows the printer "installed" as when a print command opens a window to select the printer, and inquiry into the printer shows that there is a connection: it reports the ink supplies of the colors. But nothing prints, and XSane cannot find the scanner. (There is a driver for this printer that came with the system: OpenSUSE Tumbleweed, recently updated. [opensuse] does anybody use linphone with 15.1 on this list?

I have an audio issue with linphone. I can hear the opponent but the microphone does not work. And this no matter if BT, jack, usb etc. Simply there is no outgoing sound. Has anybody in use this program with SIP? Leap 15.1 - mariadb 10.2.22 ISTR having come across this before, maybe when we first started switching to mariadb. Is there some option I need to tweak? [opensuse] plasma crash

Hello, openSUSE Leap 15.0, kde/plasma uptodate on some circumstances I have problem to identify, but probably between Firefox and Thunderbird, but may be paperclip, my background screen become black (the main application windows still works), and nothing respond apart this main windows: no taskbar, no other application. one preliminary symptom is than why hovering the mouse on the taskbar icon of the application, the mini windows that open is only a small vertical rectangle I have access of the Control Alt Fx terminal. * is there a way of relaunching the desktop without closing the session, where I often have tasks in progress :--(? * what log may be relevant? [opensuse] libvirtd, Windows VMs and docker

Hi *, on one of my hosts two libvirtd/qemu vms are up and running without any problem. One vm is a Windows 2016 domain controller, the other one an Exchange 2016 Server. The last days I installed docker on the same host, created and started one container just for testing purposes. Everything seemed to work ok. A few days later I had to reboot the host due to a new kernel. I got no error or warning messages in my journal, but after a few hours the domain controller complained that it couldn't replicate partitions with its partner running on a different machine, and Exchange server couldn't reach any domain controller. ping, tracert and other network tools could reach every other machine, though. It took me some time to find out, that the problems were caused by docker. After stopping docker, everything worked as expected again - all windows machines could reach their partners again. I disabled docker, rebootet again and started docker afterwards manually. This time everything worked ok with both libvirtd and docker machines/containers were both up and running. It turned out, that starting docker and docker containers before libvirtd and its vms is causing the above mentioned network problems, starting them the other way round everything is working ok. I couldn't find out, though, why this is happening. Looking at the firewall rules I couldn't find anything unusual. Any hint, what is going on here? TIA. Bye. [opensuse] Leap + Tumbleweed + boot partition

I bought a computer with Leap 15.0 preinstalled on an SSD, and I also wanted to install Tumbleweed on the disk. For reasons detailed below, I did this without installing a bootloader for Tumbleweed, but since Tumbleweed is frequently updated, including grub2, I think it would be better to install the bootloader in Tumbleweed. Due to my lack of knowledge, I would be grateful for advice on how to do that safely. Some specifics follow about the disk and what I did to install Tumbleweed. The SSD had three partitions: /boot, / (root) and swap. I shrank the root partition (formatted as ext4) and added a btrfs partition for Tumbleweed. I first left /boot and swap as is, but the Tumbleweed installer said there was no bootable partition (I don't remember the exact wording, something like no BIOS boot table). I then tried deleting the /boot partition and adding it again, selecting "BIOS Boot" as the partition ID, but the installer still said there was no bootable partition. I also tried different file systems to format /boot -- originally it was FAT and I also tried XFS and ext3 -- but that made no difference. So finally, I left the /boot partition unchanged but unmounted it and proceeded with the installation. At the summary I then changed the boot setup to prevent any boot loader being installed and any changes made to the MBR. The installer said I might end up with an unbootable system, but I went ahead anyway. The installation completed and on rebooting the boot screen showed only Leap 15.0 as before, but after running grub2-mkconfig in Leap, Tumbleweed was found and I could boot it and it seems to be fine. The disk has GPT with protective MBR. As noted the /boot partition is formatted as FAT and also contains a directory efi, which is populated in the running Leap, which mounts /boot/efi, but in the running Tumbleweed, where /boot is not a separate partition, after mounting the partition Leap sees as /boot/efi, the efi directory is empty (in the running Tumbleweed). I do not plan to install any MS-Windows system, but I do plan to install other Linux-based systems besides Tumbleweed, and possibly a *BSD system. How can I install the bootloader in Tumbleweed -- either from the currently installed Tumbleweed or by reinstalling it -- without risking making both Tumbleweed and Leap unbootable? If that requires deleting the existing /boot partition and add it anew, is it necessary, given the systems I plan to install, to have the efi directory, and if so, do I just have to make /boot/efi a mountpoint, and if not, what else to I need to do to make sure it exists and gets populated as required (if it's required)? And if the efi directory is not needed, what would be the recommended file system for the boot partition? I also have a question concerning having a separate /boot partition shared by Leap, Tumbleweed and any other systems I install: in each system the directory /boot contains versioned files of the kernel, config, etc., but there are also symlinks vmlinuz and initrd pointing to the latest version installed in the system; if Leap and Tumbleweed (and other Linux-based systems) populate the same /boot directory, the last one installed would override existing symlinks, so I don't see how this can work. Is it possible for different systems to use the same /boot directory, installed on a separate partition, and if not, where do the files used for booting different systems need to go, when a separate /boot partition is used? [opensuse] Mounting a dead Android device

Is there any way to mount a dead Android phone in Linux? I'm trying to recover somebody's data, and there are no backups. It's all on internal storage. I can find tools for doing this in Windows, but not on my Linux PC. [opensuse] There is an ongoing attack on PGP that could affect us.

Hi What they do is sign a PGP key many thousand of times, increasing its size to megabytes. Tools like enigmail can not cope and crash. The key servers were designed to never delete anything, but obviously this attack (on just a few keys so far) overloads the system. If it spreads, it could potentially affect packaging and distribution of upgrades.
