[opensuse] openlog() setting not being inherited by threads?

As part of migrating a mail cluster til leap15.1, I noticed that log messages from a custom-written daemon were being written to both /var/log/mail and to /var/log/messages - only intended for facility=LOG_MAIL. I noticed the same for spamd. With our own custom-written daemon, on a hunch I fixed the problem by adding an openlog() in the threads that are being created, so it seems the openlog() is not being inherited across a thread create / fork() ? Running samba-4.7.11+git.153.b36ceaf2235-lp150.3.14.1.x86_64 on openSUSE Leap 15.0, the package's from the Leap 15.0 updates repo. Any ideas on where to start? [opensuse] machine refuses to hibernate, no reason given.

After half an hour I issued the command, the machine has not hibernated. In Linphone, did you try clicking on the hamburger menu in the upper right corner, going to the Audio tab, then setting the capture device to that of your microphone? [opensuse] Still can't print to the Epson WP-4530

Hope I have the mailing address correct this time. I used YAST to try and install the Epson inkjet printer/scanner/copier. The system shows the printer "installed" as when a print command opens a window to select the printer, and inquiry into the printer shows that there is a connection: it reports the ink supplies of the colors. But nothing prints, and XSane cannot find the scanner. (There is a driver for this printer that came with the system: OpenSUSE Tumbleweed, recently updated. I have an audio issue with linphone. I can hear the opponent but the microphone does not work. And this no matter if BT, jack, usb etc. Simply there is no outgoing sound. Has anybody in use this program with SIP? [opensuse] pageup/pagedown for history search doesn't work in mariadb cli ?

Leap 15.1 - mariadb 10.2.22 ISTR having come across this before, maybe when we first started switching to mariadb. Is there some option I need to tweak? [opensuse] plasma crash

Hello, openSUSE Leap 15.0, kde/plasma uptodate on some circumstances I have problem to identify, but probably between Firefox and Thunderbird, but may be paperclip, my background screen become black (the main application windows still works), and nothing respond apart this main windows: no taskbar, no other application. one preliminary symptom is than why hovering the mouse on the taskbar icon of the application, the mini windows that open is only a small vertical rectangle I have access of the Control Alt Fx terminal. * is there a way of relaunching the desktop without closing the session, where I often have tasks in progress :--(? * what log may be relevant? [opensuse] libvirtd, Windows VMs and docker

Hi *, on one of my hosts two libvirtd/qemu vms are up and running without any problem. One vm is a Windows 2016 domain controller, the other one an Exchange 2016 Server. The last days I installed docker on the same host, created and started one container just for testing purposes. Everything seemed to work ok. A few days later I had to reboot the host due to a new kernel. I got no error or warning messages in my journal, but after a few hours the domain controller complained that it couldn't replicate partitions with its partner running on a different machine, and Exchange server couldn't reach any domain controller. ping, tracert and other network tools could reach every other machine, though. It took me some time to find out, that the problems were caused by docker. After stopping docker, everything worked as expected again - all windows machines could reach their partners again. I disabled docker, rebootet again and started docker afterwards manually. This time everything worked ok with both libvirtd and docker machines/containers were both up and running. It turned out, that starting docker and docker containers before libvirtd and its vms is causing the above mentioned network problems, starting them the other way round everything is working ok. I couldn't find out, though, why this is happening. Looking at the firewall rules I couldn't find anything unusual. Any hint, what is going on here? TIA. Bye.
