[opensuse] How to add entry to grub with separate /boot partition?

Hi, I have three OSs on /dev/nvme0n1, TW with a separate /boot partition, a Leap 15 installation and a Windows installation. After updating Leap 15 grub can't find TW anymore. os-prober does not work (only finds Windows installation). What do I have to do in order to add TW back to the grub menu? [opensuse] feh & jpegtran - what is broken?

I sometimes use 'feh' to browse images. I used it today but when I tried to rotate a picture (File/Edit in Place/Rotate 90 CW) the rotate didn't happen and I got a useful error message in the command terminal: $ feh WARNING: lossless rotate: Is 'jpegtran' installed? Failed to exec: No such file or directory feh WARNING: lossless rotate: Got exitcode 1 from jpegtran. Commandline was: jpegtran -copy all -rotate 90 -outfile P1020918.JPG P1020918.JPG This is on 42.3. The last time I used rotate was on 42.2 and I'm fairly sure it worked there. The current version of feh is 2.18.3-7.1-x86_64 from openSUSE-Leap-42.3-Oss. YaST doesn't show me any results when I search for jpegtran. rpmfind OTOH finds libjpeg-turbo-1.5.3-42.1 and says it contains jpegtran. And sure enough after I install libjpeg-turbo, rotation works in feh. But YaST still doesn't return any results for jpegtran. I said: * one ssd (450Gb) for main disk (30GB system, btrfs, 380GB data, xfs) I want to add some explanation. When I speak of "data" in the line above, I mean user data (home, for example), not data in the BTRFS meaning. I can manage to take some time to recover user data in case of crash. But if BTRFS/RAID have to be useful, I need a booting computer. [opensuse] okular @ leap423 - is is getting worse?

After my somewhat problematic upgrade of 422 to 423 (desktop test system) last week, I have now done yet another reinstall - I was optimistically hoping okular might have been able to print properly now, but it looks like it's been getting worse. okular defaults to using inches (instead of millimetres) and A5 ?? Changes to those setting are not saved. Second, I can't set the printer options - type of paper, paper source, etc. The latter used to be available under a tab "Advanced": In okular, press Ctrl-P, then "Properties", now a windows with two tabs "Page" and "Advanced" (the latter has the options I'm looking for). With leap423, I don't get any "Advanced" tab, instead I get "Job Options". (which has very few options). I just discover a BTRFS feature I heard of but never looked at, raid 1 https://btrfs.wiki.kernel.org/index.php/Using_Btrfs_with_Multiple_Devices but this page is a bit hard to understand for me :-( I have on my laptop two disks. * one ssd (450Gb) for main disk (30GB system, btrfs, 380GB data, xfs) * one rotating drive 1Tb (in the dvd port) empty is it a good idea to build a raid 1 for the system? for the data? if I use BTRFS, I understand I can add the second device on the fly. [opensuse] You will love this printer/scanner issue

Yesterday the wife handed me a US legal size paper (8.5"x14") to scan, so I dutifully put it in our Brother mfc-j450dw multifunction printer but xsane's preview would only show a portion of the document. Then started about 45 minutes of fighting with printer drivers, different scan software, even something on Win7 in virtualbox, all to no avail. Finally, in disgust I reached over to the printer to remove the document to learn that the scan bed is maxed out at 8.5"x11" and that 3 inches of the paper was sticking out from under the lid. a warning on rouge snapshots: it is possible for snapshots to become detached from snappers view. [opensuse] libcrypto.so.1.1 not provided

This is on Leap 42.3 and I am using the kernel from .../Kernel:/stable/standard. Trying to install the latest kernel -- 4.15.0-1.1 -- zypper will not install a couple of its required files, and YAST (Upgrade if newer packages available) shows that 'Nothing provides libcrypto.so.1.1' which is needed by 'kernel-default-develop' and by 'kernel-syms'. However, in Tumbleweed there is no problem because there is a new(er) version of libopenssl1-1-1 installed. How to overcome the "roadblock" in 42.3: (1) ignore the dependency requirement; (2) copy libcryptoso.1.1 from TW to Leap; or (3) another way? (The openssl.org site shows that openssl-1.1.0 was released on 2 November 2017 and openssl-1.0.2n on 7 December 2017.) Any help gratefully accepted.
