[opensuse] SEC_ERROR_INVALID_KEY FIREFOX and THUNDERBIRD 52.3 (64bit) issues

Hello all, I recently upgraded to Firefox 52.3 (and thunderbird too). Whenever I try to use google.com <http://google.com>, I get a "Secure Connection Failed -SEC_ERROR_INVALID_KEY". I would appreciate an insight or help to resolve this. I can reach google.com <http://google.com> and bing.com <http://bing.com> from other browsers, namely Opera and Chromium, but my primary browser is Firefox. [opensuse] RIP ReiserFS thread

After reading (at times with great amusement) the thread on ReiserFS which has encompassed many subjects and made myriad valid points, I have decided that I will make no change here for a while. Actually, that is more due to my economic situation than the state of ReiserFS acceptance/rejection by future versions of whatever this distro will be called. Yes, I read all the posts and no, there has been no definitive answer to Anton's question about the future inclusion of reiserfs.ko and mkfs.reiser. There was a tonne of Facebook-ish crap slung back and forth and the exposure of the fact that ReiserFS ain't as dead as some would have like for it to be but there was also a tonne of very useful information so the thread was, IMHO, a net plus. I want to thank everyone who joined into the fray because that thread has been one of the most informative and, potentially beneficial, to me in a long time on this forum. So, with the exception of Anton's question, it seems that all the issues have been settled and this thread can finally be put to rest. Thanks, all. [opensuse] How to protect Wine from opening malware?

Today I got a malware mail with an *.7z attachment. I saved the attachment and opened the 7z archive with Ark for further investigation. The attachment contained a *.vbs Visual Basic Script file. It is mostly a downloader script which downloads malware from a Russian server. The problem: If I click on the file (instead of choosing "Preview" in context menu), Ark opens Wine with the malware VBS script. My Sophos on-access scanner blocked the attachment. My question: How I can configure KDE or Ark so, that it does not open some problematic file types, especially not with Wine? I also wonder about the insecure default settings. [opensuse] Thunderbird and my ISP problem

Hi, I have a bad nuisance problem with Thunderbird and one of my accounts at my ISP, the one I use for this list. I'm reading email, and suddenly the entire inbox becomes empty. After a while, when a new email arrives, I click on it and the inbox repopulates with the entire list. Knowing this, I send an email to myself from my phone. I have done this 64 times. When the inbox goes empty, it is also empty to tools like fetchmail. There are also milder occurrences of the problem, when the inbox "blinks" and Thunderbird looses track of where it was reading. I have contacted my ISP, and they blame Thunderbird. They said (translated (with google, then hand corrected)): +++...................... We have been reviewing the behavior of the account and after analyzing it we have reached the following conclusion: At times when there is a massive access to the account, the connections are not performing correctly, the state is inconsistent, producing errors in the indexes that in turn cause the mail to not display correctly. According to standard RFC-2177 mail clients must send the IDLE command to the server when they are ready to accept new mail. However we observe that when many connections are opened at the same time, this does not happen. We also notice that connections are opened with the account "robin.lists" and "robin.lists2" at the same time, when "robin.lists" is an alias of "robin.lists2" and therefore the content to display is the same . If possible, change the maximum number of connections to the server to 1 in the configuration of your client (Thunderbird). ......................++- I have done the suggested change in account settings / Server Settings / Advanced: "maximum number of server connections to cache" to 1 (it was 5). But the problem is still happening, several times today. It is a royal nuisance. This account is under the name "robin.listas2@...", and has an alias "robin.listas@...". All authentication must be done with the former, I have no idea why Thunderbird may use the second as they say. I have no logs from them, of course (I asked). Members of the federal council are elected by the combined parliament, ie. the Ständerat (46 members, elected by the states) and the Nationalrat (200 members, elected by the people). This is one of the few events that require the presence of the combined parliament. In June, Didier Burkhalter announced he would be stepping down by the end of October, slightly early. To replace him, we have three candidates: Isabelle Moret, kt. Vaud, age 46, lawyer, MP. Ignazio Cassis, kt. Tessin, age 56, dr.med., MP. Surrendered his Italian citizenship to be eligible. Former field surgeon of 9th Mountain Rangers. Pierre Maudet, kt. Genf, age 39, lawyer, former Mayor of Geneva, currently Director of Police and Minister of Trade in Geneva. Cassis is tipped as a winner, but he's a little too right-wing for my taste. I think Pierre Maudet would be a good choice. Experienced in government and young. [opensuse] Nvidia proprietary drivers on Leap 42.3

Prior to Leap 42.3 (maybe earlier), the nvidia driver RPMs for openSUSE seemed to be remade when a new kernel was released. IIRC, no compiling in the install system was needed. At least that is how I remember it. Now it seems that the driver is recompiled. On http://download.nvidia.com/opensuse/leap/42.3/x86_64/ I see drivers for kernel for 4.4.76_1. On my Leap 42.3 I am running 4.4.87-25-default. While this isn't generally a problem, I am including the drivers in some KIWI install images. Compiling the nvidia stuff seems to take a very long time. Am I missing something? Or perhaps remembering incorrectly? [opensuse] Configure IPSec VPN - KDE network manager

I'm trying to set up an IPSec VPN. In the past, with other systems, I have been able to use a preshared key, to configure the VPN. However, in the network manager, I can choose Certificate/private key, but it appears to also need certificate. Is there something I'm missing with this? Generally, you'd use a certificate or private key, not both. I have been following this thread with some interest because of having been running ReiserFS since before he turned homicidal. I have had zero, count that ZERO, problems in all that time so I read with some dismay the effort to actively kill its usage in this whatever-you-call-it distro. I think that the more relevant question to ask is not "can we keep this file system around, pretty please" but "what distros are allowing its use by not actively trying to kill it"? I have used opensuse since before Mandrake went away, which has been a while and, although I don't really want to change distros, I am not married to suse (or leap, or whatever). I feel that what we have here with opensuse/leap is an example of the classic "swing" cartoon which shows the stages of project development from sales, engineering, installation and what the customer actually wanted. My need is not as complex as some and for that ReiserFS works quite well. Hi, I noticed an update to fetchmsttfonts. openSUSE-2017-1041 - Recommended update for fetchmsttfonts This update for fetchmsttfonts contains the following fixes: - fetchmsttfonts now uses sf.net automatic mirror selection (boo#1057119) - The cryptographic checksums of the downloaded fonts are now verified (boo#958651) References: 958651 (bugzilla) : add hash validation to fetchmsttfonts.sh 1057119 (bugzilla) : fetchmsttfonts seems to fail It seems it applies to the script.
