[opensuse] Both Thunderbird and Firefox unresponsive on return for hibernation

Hi, Say that on return from hibernation I don't touch the computer for three minutes. Then I go to the desktop that has Thunderbird opened from yesterday. It is white, nothing can be read. There is a small window, white, that I know says that some script is unresponsive. I have to wait several minutes till Thunderbird fills the text, and even more till it responds to the keyboard. Something like 10 minutes till I can read and write emails since returning from hibernation. Horrible. And all the time the disk is reading something, slowly, at 1.5 MB/s. The XFCE Multiload plugin displays that the CPU is waiting a lot (IOWait). Then why is the disk going that slow? This is something that happens on Leap 42.2 on two computers, which had not this problem on 13.1. Firefox presents the same problem. In fact, I got tired of waiting and killed it, then restarted it. Seems faster. [opensuse] KDE4 ending: move to plasma involving dramatic change

My (sort-of) regular 'zypper up' has been receiving notices form the KDE repositories that the GPG signatures are approaching EOL. I take that as a hint that KDE4 is approaching an effective EOL. Either that or someone needs to do something about those signatures. Googling around to see what I have to do to upgrade to Plasma I came across http://www.tecmint.com/install-kde-plasma-5-in-linux/ However the paragraph on openSuse isn't helpful. Running a 'zypper search' and looking at the result I find a few packagaes and try zypper in plasma5-desktop \ plasma5-session \ plasma5-workspace \ plasma5-workspace-libs That, however, produces a very drastic change if I choose to bypass the missing dependency for libQt5Core.so. its not as if it comes in as an alternative desktop, its a complete displacement/replacement. A 'high entropy' change. I realise that a complete system upgrade to Leap will get around that. For various reasons I'm not in a position to do that -- another 'high entropy' change -- right now. [opensuse] AppArmor update for Leap causes trouble

Hello, [ I have a nomail subscription here, so please CC me if you reply ] FYI: the AppArmor update that is available for 42.1 and 42.2 since two days causes trouble - AppArmor won't be started on boot anymore :-( I'm still searching for the exact cause [1] - if you are interested in the details, please follow https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1017260 Workaround: systemctl enable apparmor.service systemctl reload apparmor.service Please also check if some running services run without their AppArmor profile. You can see this in aa-status in the section "... processes are unconfined but have a profile defined". Please restart any services listed there, or simply reboot. [opensuse] SDDM Leap Question about configuration.

When I run a multiple user setup and several users are open. If I use sddm (but also lightdm) I cannot shutdown. I can just logout, one by one, from all users and then shutdown. Is there a way to shutdown the machine with one click, and in the same time gently(!) close down all open userinstances? Where would I have to set this? How would I have to set this? Hi With all my plasma hangs i'm thinking of changing to a radeon as my current card is an old geforce210. Does anyone have any advice about a Radeon HD 5450 - cheap as chips at the moment - but will it work okay with the opensource radeon drivers? A full fat graphics card is not necessary for the stuff i do.
